Re: BiPAP better than APAP?

I have been using a BiPAP for over a decade. It's been great! I upgraded my recalled device something or other for an Airsense 10 BiPAP, but used an AutoPAP version for about a week and it was great. I didn't notice when I bought the used Airsense10 that it was only a BiPAP. Still, it worked great....

Re: Dry mouth, throat, nasal passages

With CG on that one... I had mouth leaking come with advancing age... less muscle tone during deep/REM sleep. Moved to a full-face mask (currently Vitera, love it) and mouth tape. Examine your leak graphs, that will tell the tale.

Re: A question to those who have successfully mouthtaped

Why am I waking up with a dried out mouth, sticky with saliva? I recently started with cover roll stretch tape (CRST). I've shaved beforehand and used a wide swath across the whole mouth, checking to make sure I can't blow any air out the corners. Upon waking, I've also checked to make sure I could...

My recommendations to a new sufferer

This happened in Nick's group 'CPAP Reviews' on FB... I ended up making a screed... let's post it here and y'all tear it up please. Here's the OP: I have been following for a few weeks. Diagnosed end of January. I just got the referral for the DME on Friday. Still don’t have any equipment. Would lov...

Re: How does CPAP prevent apnea?

There is a lot of common information on Google. They all say: "Continuous airflow keeps the airways open and prevents any pauses in breathing." The device cannot give me air unless I breathe. What good is it if it constantly gives air? So what triggers me to breathe again while wearing a mask? It's...

Re: Choosing a new auto cpap device

I'm a big fan of the Resmed Airsense 10, a work-horse machine that is perhaps the most popular machine out there. Since the pandemic it's been available without a modem for a *lot* cheaper, I bought mine brand new last November for <400USD. See if the Airsense 10 Card-to-Cloud (missing modem) is ava...

Re: Elderly back sleeping mom, new ASV

Sorry to hear your problems... sleeping with head raised appears to be the best solution... she's not a side-sleeper at all. Recliner? Hospital-type bed with raised head? Angle cushion? Here's another thought... is it her tongue? The iNAP is a new device that pulls a suction in the mouth to keep the...

Re: Need help converting AirSense 10 into BIPAP in UK

Hi everyone, I'm someone with UARS who is desperately looking to convert his ResMed AirSense 10 into a BIPAP machine via the Airbreak modification (https://airbreak.dev/). Unfortunately I lack the technical knowledge to carry this out myself, and by now my sleep deprivation is severe to the point t...

Re: Do I need a new sleep study?

My last one was about five years ago, and things haven't really changed. My CPAP died, but we've moved halfway across the country. Is there any issue with getting my old prescription from the previous doctor and getting another CPAP? Do I even really need a prescription? Yes, unfortunately you have...

Re: Help with Oscar

I also attach the last chart I have from the day before yesterday. Going out on a limb here and thinking you're under-treated... 7cm looks to be too low. See the flow limitations? If your machine was on APAP it would be climbing the pressures then. I'd try going up 1cm at a time and see if those ev...

First night on Evora FF... not a fan

Bought a fit kit for the F&P Evora full-face mask... I'm a confirmed F&P customer, started on the Zest 14 years ago, moved on to the Simplus. I'm not a nasal pillow fan... turns out that this mask feels like a pillow mask -erading as a FF mask. I tried on the default Medium and moved over to the Lar...

Re: How to Troubleshoot & Improve Leak Performance?

What kind of tape are you using? And why do you do the two vertical strips at the end of your mouth? If you have a long enough tape, shouldn't a single strip across work? I use the Cover Roll Stretch Tape (CRST)... two rolls 13$ on the Zon: https://www.amazon.com/Cover-Roll-Stretch-yards-Hypoallerg...

Re: How to Troubleshoot & Improve Leak Performance?

I took your comment to heart and tried a longer piece of tape to make sure I got the corners really well. But today's chart looks identical to my previous chart. Tonight, maybe I'll put one horizontal over my lips, and two verticals at the ends to secure it even better to see if that makes any diff...

Re: How to Troubleshoot & Improve Leak Performance?

In my opinion it's tape job failure... big mask leaks like that tend to wake you up. Also, the profile of tapering up to leak plateau is a tape job fail IMO. The tape is still in place... it just leaked from a corner. Test your tape job in the morning by puffing against it. All IMO.

Re: New User - CSR in Oscar

That makes a lot of sense, so turn of the Auto portion of the machine? (snip) Yes... sorta. The pressure will climb to fight Flow Limitations... it's not going sky high, but less variables now the better. IMO you're over-treating... what with those CA's and CSR. Baby steps... just turn off EPR and ...
