"... suggests hundreds of masks (that fit the scan) ..."

Wow! That really narrows it down.

"Hundreds if masks"--I hope it shortens the list to something usable.
It would be nice to take into account comfort and personal preference,
and especially budget--as too many providers fail that test--miserably.
Trial and error is a lousy plan--considering mask prices.

It seems that you get a 2D scan with your phone (even the newest phones) verus a 3D scan with the iPad. If so, the ipad may deliver better recommendations -- I think.

It will narrow it down to a few masks that best suite you profile. It just has all masks available and has no bias to a particular brand or style. It will let you know the best style and size that would suite you best.

Yes the method of trial and error is the reason why this app was developed. This methodology has to improve and we have to use statistics and science to help suggest the most suitable mask not just based on size but also sleeping position, CPAP pressures, if someone is claustrophobic, etc. These are all considered with the suggestion. The goal is to reduce poor mask fitting through science and not from what is suggested because of promotion or financial gains.

I used a similar app to scan for custom swim goggles. They fit perfectly, don't leak, and don't require the straps to be tight at all, just enough to keep good contact around the eyes.
