Re: Starting soon and feeling angry embarrassed and not for the reasons that come up in searches.

Thank you.... I never knew I was tired and hubby never said anything nor did he ever notice me waking up gasping for air cause I didn't. I am seeing a therapist online and he has helped me a little. I just don't see him again for several weeks. I haven't lost weight cause I never felt a reason to. ...

Re: Starting soon and feeling angry embarrassed and not for the reasons that come up in searches.

Many of us have shared similar feelings when starting on their CPAP journey. I felt a bit embarrassed when I first started, but my worries were unfounded. My hubby appreciates having a more rested, energetic wife. He’s also happy to no longer be awoken by my snoring and gasping for air all night lon...

OT insomnia

Wondering what tips and tricks you all can recommend to battle the insomnia beast. I’m sure we all have different factors that contribute to insomnia. Things that contribute to my insomnia include back pain, allergies, and life stresses. For my back pain I use a TENS unit and heat. I take a number o...

Re: OT.....Trump falling asleep in court

First of all, please keep partisanship and politics out of this thread. It's not about that. Multiple reports say that Donald Trump is falling asleep in court; sometimes for up to fifteen minutes at a time. We should be questioning whether he has a sleep disorder, such as Sleep Apnea or Narcolepsy....

Looks like you had a pretty good workup, what where the results of the Actigraphy and MSLT your sleep study references? Have you had any further testing to look for other issues that could explain your brain fatigue? How does your mask fit? Sometimes a poor fitting mask can cause dry eyes. Do you ha...

Re: Website similar to cpaptalk for pacemakers?

I hope not.

A pacemaker isn’t something you should attempt to manage yourself, it’s complex and needs to be analyzed by a cardiac electrophysiologist.

Definitely not something you should manage on your own, even with the help of random people on the internet;)

Re: OT; the other sleep demons that haunt our nights

Do you know what is causing the back pain? Muscle, bone, arthritis, strain??????? I have had allergy shots but many, many years ago. They helped tremendously. I forget just how long it took but it was many months for sure of once a week shots that I gave to myself. Thanks Pugsy! For the back pain I...

OT; the other sleep demons that haunt our nights

My OSA is well treated, yet like many of you I still have a few sleep demons that pop their ugly heads up and keep me from getting a good nights sleep. My main demons are back pain and horrible allergies which lead to insomnia. For me the start of allergy season is here which makes my APAP much more...

Re: Elderly Father COPD and CPAP

So sorry your going through this:( I have also faced the difficult task of trying to care for an elderly father who suffers from both numerous physical and mental health issues. I doubt if there is anything that would allow you to monitor dad’s CO2 or O2 in real time outside of a a hospital setting....

Re: Newbie 74 year old frustrated

So sorry to have not responded to those who helped me out. Let me see if I can be more clear. My lungs are fine. I live at 5,000 feet. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea due to oxygen levels dropping into high 70's low 80's during sleep study. I am on a Philips bipap machine with 5 liters of oxygen, ...

How often do you replace your humidifier chamber?

The DME is always wanting me to replace my humidifier chamber (and everything else). It seems like overkill to me. Even though I’ve never seen signs of my humidifier chamber needing to be replaced I’ve replaced it 2 times since I’ve had my machine (about 4 years). Unfortunately this morning when I r...

Re: Respiratory Wave Form correction, Bilevel vs EPR advantages - OSCAR data UK user

I have asthma and my allergist had me do a PFT in office just last month. It’s an easy test that’s readily available, I would push for a PFT if it hasn’t been done recently. OK but I wouldn't get a "Screener", which is what you'd get in a physician's office. I'd get a "Complete" to get a look at th...

If you ask him to take a big inhalation on his own, he really cant, its just one short breath lasting 1 second and thats him at his limit. He cant do one long slow and steady inhalation… he had heart surgery a couple of years ago and prior to his surgery they did a pulmonary assessment to see that ...

Re: In the UK.....Is it my heart, or my sleep-- or both?

I feel your pain about dismissive doctors. I ran into the same obstacles when trying to get a sleep study and was told a healthy looking, petite, woman in her 40s couldn’t have sleep apnea. Thankfully I eventually got my sleep study (it was a one night home study) and I’m sleeping so much better wit...

Re: teenager cpap compliance, what type of help do we need??

What type of mask does your teen use? I wonder if them hearing themselves breathing in their head could be the result of a leak? Also different masks have different ways of venting out exhaled air, some masks are quieter than others. It might be worthwhile to have your teen try out some other masks,...
