Re: Get to play Doctor
The chart indicates the machine is wide open min 4 max 20. that is basically the default setting for the machine with no changes. So what are you actually changing?? What was the setting before you changed something? Also, when you make a change you should use it for a couple days before changing a...

Get to play Doctor
Recently the wife failed a sleep test with an AHI of 8.5 , now she is on a loaner, AirSense 10 Autoset for Her, for 2 weeks. Wife mentioned to her contact at the sleep clinic that I was a bit anal about my therapy and that I utilized software to adjust my own machine. They laugh. Sleep center called...

Re: Do I Need a Titration Test?
Many of us have learned through the help we received here. Feel my care now is better than anything the 'establishment' was providing. Just need to put a little time into reading and become knowledgeable enough to run software (Sleepyhead) that monitors machines that are fully data capable. If you h...

I'll take your word for itJulie wrote:It's come up here periodically... try doing a site search for it.
Damn media presented this new episode and spoke of this as though it was breakthrough, state of the art.
I'm blaming the media.

I can't help you here, don't know, I'm only six months into this therapy.chunkyfrog wrote:Is this the hypoglossal nerve stimulation (HGNS) that was promoted a few years ago; and promptly dropped out of sight?
However, the show made it sound like this was a new option.

New Breakthrough therapy
Posted this in another forum but don't think a link is allowed so here is a cut and paste: If you didn't see it today, the tv show, 'The Doctors', gave us a gory preview of a throat operation and the placement of the new breakthrough device. Googling 'Brian Weeks MD ENT' may get you some hits. They ...

Yes, seems we can be quite entertaining ... my wife laughs at the head bob and the sudden snap back up, the laughter is often followed with a little pity/mercy as she brings me a pillow to prop me up.Pugsy wrote:....hubby was sitting over in his chair laughing his ass off at me.

Re: Doctor says therapy has been effective.Quit or continue ?
I'm in Tommy Douglas's province and all is well here as far as I'm concerned. When I see Canadians complaining about our health system they are usually from out East and dealing with overcrowded cities. My doctor is excellent and feel he has saved my life with his thorough testing. He's why I'm here...

Re: High Clear Airways during sleep
If the humidifier is already on its max setting, you might try turning it down a notch or two. Hi Robysue, My humidifier is set to 4. I will turn it to 6 tonight and see what happens. The swelling occurred after mask up and falling asleep. We are all looking for the sweetspot, not too dry , not too...

Re: High Clear Airways during sleep
I don't know anything near what the others are telling you but I know what I would try. Open up the Apap feature and run a pressure range from 8-12. See where it wants to go that night. and try going back to cpap once I knew what the top number may be. I like cpap (EPR 2) only because it has been go...

Re: High Clear Airways during sleep
Hi Sirc, here's my thinking: Jim's AHI now is comprised mostly of CA. Increasing the pressure will not prevent them and, in fact, may make them worse.. Hi Jay, agree with all, especially about the CA's, in fact many are only at the 'going to sleep' and 'wakening' period (for his second report and i...

Re: High Clear Airways during sleep
Good to see the 9 working out for you and like you say, leaving it for a few days gives you a better idea of how you'll adjust to this setting. I don't think you can go lower than 9 but that is only because the auto migrated to 9 in short order and looked like it wanted to stay up there. I'd be more...

Re: High Clear Airways during sleep
I''ve been reading and watching graphs on a few forums and I would definitely try Sleeprider's advice. Been a few cases in the last few weeks where a straight pressure has improved the readings. 9 would be a good choice, or 10 later, as that is where it wants to go. I'm experiment and reviewing my s...

Re: First 3 nights
Looks like you have a pretty good handle on experimenting and what the graphs are telling you. Like the second graph, the 0.65 daily, looks like leaks are under control in a couple of the images, as you mentioned, If you like experimenting a bit, I'd try a straight 7cm CPAP, no range or APAP mode, b...

Re: New to CPAP
Does your screen give you your AHI reading each day ... is it good quality sleep?
Sounds good though, you must be playing catch-up. Just listen to your body and how you feel.
I'd be wanting that sleep monitored just to see what's really happening.
