Airsense Software Upgrade Out Now
email that I received today concerning an over-the-air software update for Airsense machines...........
"Thank you for contacting ResMed. We are conducting a software upgrade which will be performed over-the-air throughout the months of March and April and will not affect your therapy or require an action by you. However, your device must be powered on and have reception (and not in Airplane mode) in order to receive the upgrade.
We appreciate your patience as we work through upgrading all the serial numbers we've sold and apologize for any inconvience this may have caused."

This ought to be interesting. Please keep us updated. I'm curious as to what the update will change or add to the AS10.

Re: Airsense Software Upgrade Out Now
I had sent ResMed an email asking about the heated hose sometimes losing connection with the machine..........sometimes the machine doesn't see the hose is connected and then throws a fault notice on the screen saying ClimateLine Air hose fault.
The return email did not give me any information concerning my question about the ClimateLine Air hose, or any information about what the upgrade covered...........all I got was the brief message that I started this post with................I have recorded my software version number.......I will keep checking it to see if it changes.
that's all I know at this point.................maybe some DMEs might have more info, but that would be in a "Perfect DME World" which we all know does not exist

so if they did not sell them ...or the DME did not register it ... might not get upgraded????

I would assume that although I did not get my machine from a registered DME or other official source, by turning on the wireless system and letting it communicate with ResMed servers in San Diego I'll get the upgrade regardless, but that's a BIG Assumption on my part. I did not register for the MyAir service, but I did register my machine serial number for warranty purposes with ResMed online.
We shall see
I would also assume for people in an area without wireless reception should be able to contact either ResMed or a DME to get the upgrade via SD card, but again I am just guessing on that......just seems logical.

Re: Airsense Software Upgrade Out Now
I have software version SX 567-0205...
humidifier: SX 556-0202
internal modem: SX 558-0304
I purchased it from "a guy" in January. So, I'm not sure my machine will be on their official list, but I suppose it can't hurt to leave it on standby power mode and turn off airplane mode for a month and a half.

Re: Airsense Software Upgrade Out Now
I'd be really surprised that all modems in the AirSense/AirCurve are "active". I'm pretty sure someone is footing the bill for the line and if the DME doesn't have a way to get reimbursed for the ongoing cost, would not bother.
Without an active line, I don't see how a software update would work.
Its not quite like having a smart phone which pretty much needs a data plan to be useful and getting an OTA update via that.
Will be interesting to see what happens.

Re: Airsense Software Upgrade Out Now
Mine also shows SX567-0205
And humidifier although it's integrated shows SX556-0202
So I have never had my wireless on since I bought it at the end of October, I turned it on this evening and showing full bars.......I will continue to view software version to see if it ever changes.
I hope to catch the attention of other Airsense users here to report their software versions too, both machine and humidifier.......the software version info is in My Options down at the bottom click on "About"
Would be good to get that information and see if anybody has a later version.

Re: Airsense Software Upgrade Out Now
It's my assumption that it's similar to the Kindle readers......the cost is born by the end user in the initial purchase price of the device, both the Kindle readers and the Airsense wireless run on a cellular carrier network and I see the US version of the Airsense runs on CDMA (Verizon or Sprint) and the foreign Airsense models run on GSM networks.Krelvin wrote:I'd be really surprised that all modems in the AirSense/AirCurve are "active". The DMEs or Doctors offices that participate in the AirView system do pay a subscription price for the AirView system, but I don't think end users have to be part of AirView or MyAir for the cellular modem in the machine to connect with the ResMed servers.
Additionally users that sign up for MyAir don't pay any subscription and don't have to be associated with a DME, again I think the cost of this no subscription price service (MyAir) is something ResMed includes in their retail price calculation for the Airsense. I would bet that when I turned the wireless on, the system picked up my machine, and even though I don't use MyAir and I dont use a DME ResMed is probably collecting some usage data from my machine while the wireless function is on.
I will reply to the email that I got today from ResMed and ask them about this and see if I get an answer, and if I get any useful information I will update here.

Re: Airsense Software Upgrade Out Now
I think that the upgrade happened last night. I was up at 11:00 p.m. with the Airsense on. It suddenly turned off, no power, and then turned itself back on. A message blinked for about 30 seconds, then more blinking with a message about the SD card. After that everything resumed as normal.
But be sure to check the "Period" setting. It automatically set to one month and since I prefer one day I had to change it.
The software version is SX567-0205 and the humidifier version is SX556-0204. I don't know if these are changes or not.

Where do you find the "Period" setting? I looked in the normal menu and the clinical settings menu.
Anyone know what the super long CX number represents?

Re: Airsense Software Upgrade Out Now
The Period setting is in the Sleep Report. Scroll down past the humidifier happy face and you will see it.
Perhaps the humidifier software changed? I received my machine the third week of October 2014.

Re: Airsense Software Upgrade Out Now
Yep I got the upgrade for sure last night, I got up around 4 am and shut the blower off to take a bathroom break. The instant I shut the blower off with the power button the screen started flashing very brightly and displayed a message to the effect of "Machine Upgrade do not remove power" only went on for couple minutes and then when I got back from bathroom break it was back to normal home screen.
I checked software versions.......the Device software stayed the same (SX567-0205) but the humidifier software changed from SX556-0202 to new version SX556-0204
And a little background, I did not purchase my machine through normal DME channels, but from an individual that comes on this forum from time to time with some deals.......the machine was new with zero hours on it, and right from the start in first week of November I have never had the wireless on, I never registered for the silly MyAir thing, nor do I use a DME so no AirView connection. The first time I ever turned wireless on (Airplane Mode Off) was yesterday after I got the email reply from ResMed concerning the update. So all that would confirm that all you have to do is have a wireless connection and your machine will communicate with ResMed without any other actions needed and no DME as middle man.
Also just checked period in sleep report, I definately had it set to one day, and indeed it is now on one month so the machine did power cycle after the update.

Re: Airsense Software Upgrade Out Now
My original email to ResMed had to do with the intermittent problem with the machine communicating with my ClimateLine air hose, every now and then for no reason it would throw a fault to the effect that the ClimateLine hose had failed and the machine was no longer recognizing that the heated hose was attached. I could clear the fault by reconnecting the hose. So the reply email from ResMed did not address my question about this issue, but simply advised me about the over-the-air software upgrade. So my hunch is this humidifier software upgrade I just got last night probably had something to do with the ClimateLine air connection problem that's been widely reported by several Airsense users.
