Re: external power source for camping with CPAP
As mentioned above, it’s really good if you can get the same volatage from your backup power straight to the cpap. If your battery uses an inverter to get to 120v AC and then your CPAP plugs into that to convert it to DC again, a whole lot of power is lost in between. I have an “Easylonger” lithium ...

Help for mom’s back sleep
Sorry to start a new topic, but it’s hard to search for “back” or “back sleeping” without everything showing the word “back” but not this application of the word. “Get back on topic!” So anyway, my elderly mom — I started a topic on her a while back when she had a Luna machine and things weren’t goi...

Re: Issue with my Dad’s Luna G3 CPAP
I second the suggestion to ditch the Luna and get a Resmed if possible. My mom was given a Luna machine.Without Oscar support it was hard to know what was going on with her apnea. Only after we bought a Resmed online did we start to get a handle on what was going on for her. Also, it’s hard to know ...

Pad-a-Cheek!
If pad a cheek makes a cover for your cushion, try that. I had irritation, but started using pad a cheek. Along with the skin improvement, I get far fewer leeks and weirdly a lower AHI since I started using it.

Re: Elderly mom, balky, and her Luna machine
So, we’re still working on mom, to continue this thread, and ask a question. First, the question: My sister (and far less often I) still monitors mom in the night. We’ve often thought how handy it would be if my sister could get an alert or a yes/no on her phone on whether mom, a few rooms away, has...

Re: Curious...How many of you are running APAP vs. Constant Pressure?
Yeah, they set it 5 to 20. I have a feeling the sleep doc is not very actively engaged in my local sleep center. Mostly busy NPs working, doc pops in for insurance purposes. But it seems to be working just fine at this point. I don’t know if it will go wobbly again, but it feels just nice now and AH...

Re: CPAP (APAP) success and DME question
It was the new DME that said they wouldn’t do it. Insurance said it was fine. I guess I could try yet another DME

Re: Curious...How many of you are running APAP vs. Constant Pressure?
Using APAP. I'm new. It's working great. Sleep study said AHI was 21 in the test. I'm usually under 5 now and the last several days I've been under 1. But I wonder how much impact mask choice has in the mix. Like I say, I'm new. But with my first mask, a Phillips full face that sat under my nose -- ...

Re: CPAP (APAP) success and DME question
Yes! I called my insurance company this morning, before reading this last reply. They said this kind of balance billing is in fact illegal. When I said that must be why the DME dropped my bill right away when I called them on it, she said yeah, probably. Had a nice chat with a nice insurance person....

CPAP (APAP) success and DME question
So I first posted on here before I got my own machine, and only about my mom’s apnea since then. But to follow up, my therapy is going great. I got the AirSense 10 auto set and after trying another mask have settled on the ResMed f30i I think. Based on reading on here, I got a cover from pad-a-cheek...

Re: Elderly mom, balky, and her Luna machine
So my sister took mom to a new sleep doc who is also a neurologist, showed him the Oscar data from the Airsense 10 autoset we bought. He said her current therapy currently isn’t working and is fighting with insurance to get an overnight sleep study, to which mom agreed. He thinks her apneas are cent...

Re: Elderly mom, balky, and her Luna machine
In the two sets of Oscar data I saw, it showed no leaks at all. When I was there previously, before she got the Airsense, using the Luna, I’d go in there and hear it hissing like mad and leaking all around her face. I don’t know why it’s leaking less now, same mask, same as mine Resmed n30i I think....

Re: Elderly mom, balky, and her Luna machine
Trying to guess her doctor’s thinking, they set EPR to maximum because her main complaints were that “it’s hard to breathe with the mask” and “I feel like I’m suffocating.” Her compliance is minimal, so I guess they were trying to make it easier for her to breathe, or at least exhale?. The sleep doc...
