Re: Off Grid Camping Attempt

My next door neighbor gave me a 10 year-old Optima Red Top deep cycle battery. it was completely discharged, but seemed to take and hold a full charge so if it's worth keeping, I'd like to use it as a back-up back-up. Question: Is it worth keeping, and how can I tell? Should I just hook it up to my ...

A float maintainer charges to a specific voltage, then shuts off. When the batteries voltage drops to a specific value, it turns back on and charges it back up. This keeps the battery fully charged and only charges when needed.
Can a float maintainer remain hooked up while powering the XPAP?

Re: Off Grid Camping Attempt

Thanks for the replies, everyone. It's nice to see the many ways XPAP users have found solutions to maintaining therapy off the grid. My study was in spring of 2000, and my life improved immediately. Fifteen years later, trying to nap or sleep without the machine seems all but impossible. Getting th...

Re: Off Grid Camping Attempt

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EPNZ7K6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2PVHCCZU2W0WR This looks like a reasonable choice - you'll be able to go a long time (maybe 2 weeks or more?) if you turn off humidity and heated hose. Remember that a small trickle charger, while great for mainta...

Re: Off Grid Camping Attempt

Thanks to all for this thread. I found this group 24 /70AH battery on Amazon. I'm going for max nights between recharging while staying above the recommended 30% reserve power floor. Please let me know if there would be a better choice for my S9 and h5i humidifier. When on battery, I would turn the ...

Re: New Battery and Amp-Hour Data

... Can you provide a link to the battery you use? This is the battery: http://www.amazon.com/Wheelchair-Scooter-Battery-Batteries-Pair/dp/B00N414YMC Although it says "pair" its only one battery - I think the scooter its often used in takes two. There are other U1 batteries on Amazon for aboutt $65...

Re: New Battery and Amp-Hour Data

:D I have been lurking for a while but had to make an account to thank you for this information. I am now ready to make my camping rig. Thanks, I appreciate that. I do have to say that while I stand by my recommendation of the MotoBatt battery, the price for it was very high the last time I looked....

Ted (Titrator) used the Breeze/nasal pillows for several years, with a bipap set for IPAP 18 or 19, I think; and EPAP maybe 3 or 4 cm's lower. Just for the heck of it, last year (I think it was) I experimentally tried these nasal pillows masks at a straight pressure of 20: Breeze ComfortLite 2 Head...

Treating Apnea with Stone Knives and Bearskins

Here's Dr. Simeon Margolis (M.D., Ph.D, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine) article of 8/6/2007 on ways to stop snoring that only mentions SURGERY as a method of treating sleep apnea: http://health.yahoo.com/experts/healthnews/10970/is-there-any-way-to-stop-snoring HOW are we STILL in the DARK AGES???...

The primary interest for a patient centers on getting the best treatment.
The primary interest for the DME is making money; it's a business.

Divergent interests with respect to financials and best care should not be the pillars of any civilized health care system.

And yet... that's what happened.

My ears are stopped up 364 days of the year, so I can handle the one night of WOOOOOOOSHing I get from my Adam Circuit. It is comfy, but it can sound like the cave-wind scene in Rambo: First Blood, too.

I suppose there are plenty things worse than being deaf.

I don't know where she is in south FL, but the water temp around Miami should be about 86 degrees right now, based on historical observations.

Not gonna help girlsaylor, I'm afraid.

Hey there, girlsailor, I am worried about you. It's just going to get hotter for the next couple of weeks until things start cooling down a bit. I hope you might be in a position to consider asking a friend for help and bunking somewhere cool for a night or two just to take the edge off. You might w...
