Re: Newbie - DME not covered question
Using DME is not worth it. There may be a few gems out there, but most don't know what they are talking about. Machines and equipment from DME will cost you (in my case) more than double for new online. If you want new equipment, there are places online to buy them. Used is even cheaper.

Re: ResMed S9 "spontaneously" shut off
Thanks for the advice. I'll try the surge protector. I really should start the process, since my current backup is an old S7 that hasn't been turned on in years.

ResMed S9 "spontaneously" shut off
Weird thing happened this morning. My S9 autoset shut off this morning. Normally, when therapy is stopped, the display stays lit for a couple of minutes - not in this case. At first, I blamed my cats (they have no compunction walking over whatever is in their way, me included), then a power outage. ...

Re: Ok, Enough's Enough.. Surgery Advice please :(
Hello, the moleskin has arrived today!! Do i cut it to a specific shape or just like a plaster (band aid)?? Just don't let the adhesive touch the sore. I have cut a strip large enough to cover the sore and extend to unharmed skin on either side and then removed the moleskin that covers the sore. Al...

Re: scalp blisters
I occasionally get a sore on the back of my neck where the lower strap hits my neck. When this happens, I drape a washcloth over my head and neck and then mask up. I do that for a few days and give the sore time to heal. Then I'm good for quite a while.
Good Luck!

Re: Pressure Sore with Resmed FX Quattro - for 2 months.. help!
Another thought comes to mind. There is a product sold here in the states (I'm assuming you are from Great Britain) called moleskin. It is a compressed flannel used to provide relief from blisters. Perhaps a piece of this material on the mask on either side of the injury would provide a little press...

Re: New to CPAP and having trouble adjusting. Help!
First off, don't throw your machine out - you'll need it. 1. Cant help with the mask other thsn saying keep trying 2. Those are good numbers (other than than the leak). It takes time for some to feel the results 3. It's possible the pressure is waking you up. To fix this, we need to know the setting...

Re: Pressure Sore with Resmed FX Quattro - for 2 months.. help!
2 things come to mind.
1. Try dialing the forehead adjustment to pull the mask away from the nose/forehead.
2. Use a bandaid (plaster) over the wound at night as a cushion. Just be sure there is a pad over the wound, so it won't pull the scab off.
Good luck,
RiverDave

Re: Disconnect or not?
To help the unwanted disconnects from the loose fitting just wrap a couple of layers of tape around the end of the P10 short hose that goes into the heated hose. Play with it a bit..you don't want it too tight but just a little snugger. How much depends on how thick the tape. It's a different mask,...

Re: Is AHI the thing I need to improve?
It's Insurance compliance. Your insurance company can refuse to pay for it if you don't use it for at least 4 hrs per day (for the first month, I believe). The the DME will try to get it back from you. That's my recollection.

Re: Itchy nose
I wholeheartedly endorse the dry cotton washcloth scrub. It works for me."ChicagoGranny
Wash your face before going to bed. Just before you put the mask on, lightly scrub your nose with a dry, cotton washcloth. This helps desensitize the nerve endings."

There is a quick connect where the hose meets the mask (at least on my Quattro, anyway). it pops on and off fairly easily

Re: Humidifier rainout,....
Just an anecdotal note. I'm in central Texas and have the same room temperature regime as you use. In the past 10 years, I have never had rainout. As far as the humidifiers, There is not a huge temperature range from 1 to 5 or six or whatever the top number is. For condensation to occur, you need a ...
