OZ, thanks, and yes I did use the cpap.com measurement guide - took my measurements, plugged them in, and the list that came out included the DreamFit Standard I am anxiously awaiting its arrival.

Good grief! That picture - somehow, I'm thinking of that Home Improvement sitcom. Any women on this thread?

I just ordered a Standard Dreamfit - thanks CollegeGirl for the link to the measurements page - I've only used a ComfortGel so far, I've decided it's kind of leaky - AHI has been less than 10 but it doesn't seem to be dipping to less than 5 - I got my ENT to read the smartcard and print a report. Th...

Hey, Oz, I found this old quote of yours while looking for mask information - Oz or anybody - is there a measurement-eligible mask list somewhere?? As i...

my bipap review

I *so* apologize for not being in here much lately - to recap, on CPAP at about 7 (I'm a small-boned 120lb woman) I was having a lot of aerophagia problems. I went on the BiPAP with BiFLEX, at 8 IPAP and 4 EPAP, with the BiFLEX turned on. I had some trouble "synching up" with the machine, or vice ve...

And, actually, give one to the female OBs, too, the ones who've never given birth themselves!

But maybe inability to exhale to that degree could be considered a pulmonary deficit? I don't know at what pressure the normally healthy person should be expected to be able exhale against without having a problem. It could be considered a pulmonary deficit, Lori. Maybe it's according to one's defi...

I don't really think they put you on BiPAP because your end exhalation pressure would be too high as there is always CFlex for that. I think in actual practice that probably does happen a lot - moving someone to bi-level simply because they have too much trouble exhaling against a high straight pre...

BiLevel-PAP doesn't restrict you to inhaling only at IPAP- you can continue to inhale at the lower EPAP pressure if the machine switches to it prematurely. It feels weird when it happens, but is very doable considering we inhale without PAP pressure during the day. I've been on BiPAP ST for almost ...

When people have further problems other than just OSA, they are put onto BiPAP so both iPAP and ePAP get regulated specifically. It is for pulmonary problems, according to what my son says, or people who have trouble with breathing, not just OSA. Yeah, I think I'm just sort of fragile - tons of all...

momexp5, I hope you are going to get some relief from what is going on. Oh, I'm sure I will, Lori - I seem to be just great once the machine straightens itself out - I might try a different mask soon, though - have to call insurance Monday and see whether they do 3-month replacements. And don't you...

PEEP is CPAP, PEEP standing for positive end expiratory pressure and CPAP standing for continuous positive airway pressure. <snip> When you are titrated at your sleep study, they are only setting an ePAP for your CPAP machine. Your iPAP is irrelevant. They set the end expiratory pressure that you s...

Re: odd experience during first BiPAP night

I started with the same machine during the week and have been having the same problem. I increased the Rise Time and it seemed to help a little bit. ::checking Respironics' manual:: Definition of Rise Time: "The time it takes for the device to change from EPAP to IPAP." Options are from 0 (fastest ...
