Re: OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!

Really good advice about the the 02 monitoring with alarm. I imagine they'd have such devices in a rehab. I know they do finger pulse ox during rehab sessions but I'm not sure every shift knows about his apnea or monitors him very much, there's been so much else going on with him that I probably hav...

Re: OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!

I need some encouragement. Mike seemed a little better today, more alert and was able to do rehab but only one session instead of two they prefer. I'm concerned that he's not using his cpap. He's in a new room that seemed more conducive to setting up the machine and the RN seemed "intelligent" so I ...

Re: OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!

My son(The Dr) finally asked 2 simple questions of the Nurse Supervisor!!! "Have you checked his bowel sounds? Has he a had a bowel movement???? After lots of hemming and hawing(and an outright lie..."he had one during the 11PM-7AM shift" which I later found was not even recorded in his chart as req...

Re: OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!

Dori, do they not have sleep chairs in that hospital. If they could get one for you then you could stay the night and be sure that Mike is okay. I fear that the worry is not helping you get better, if you get sicker, where does that leave the BOTH of you. If you don't know what a sleep chair is, it...

Re: OT: Pneumonia Injection

We get the flu shot every year, got it in Oct this year. Got last pneum shot 7yrs ago, Dr says after a "certain" age, he doesn't recommend it. I'm going to question him about that again now that we got sick.

Re: OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!

I just upped my D3 to 4,000/day,better late than never. They won't give vitamins to Mike in rehab, something about bringing them in from home?? He had 2 miserable nights with with the vpap, really set him back today, very congested and agitated, the nurses just don't understand how to fit a FF mask a...

Re: OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!

Dori, I'm still sending praying for you & Mike. Glad things are beginning to get better for you both. Stay on top of the rehab workers & ask for a printout of Mike's meds. That's helpful for you in case they try to 'forget' something. I've been deal with a rehab for my mother-in-law since Dec 29 & ...

Re: OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!

Hi Dori! Well wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery for you both! Hopefully things will be back to normal for you both soon. Regarding pneumonia, we had a respiratory therapist I had worked with for many years and she felt today's doctors didn't do enough aerosol ie, nebulizer treatments in additi...

Re: OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!

Thanks so much for all the good cheer, it really makes me feel better! I spent 2 days in the hospital and today is the first day after 5 days at home that I'm feeling a little better. Mike has had several setbacks and is still in the hospital. They tried getting him to rehab but had to send him back...

OT: Mike & I have Pneumonia!

I was just released yesterday from hospital, Mike is still in hospital and will be transferred to rehab tomorrow. We have family here taking care of both ends. Says prayers for my my Mike!, he's not doing well, also had a little brain "episode" that they're trying to pin down. He 's pretty non-respo...

Re: Bipap problems

Sclark, you've got your pressures reversed, your inhale is 25 and exhale is 8. You'd probably do better with a narrower range. I think I've asked you this before, what is your Pressure Support? That makes a difference in comfort too.

Re: About to be CPAP free!

Cuda, you're really confusing us and we're trying to help. Can you tell us what surgery is being suggested and by what Dr? Are you under the care of a Cardiologist, what is your diagnosis and who is treating you with "meds" and what are you taking? The symptoms you describe such as low heart rate, p...

Our mattress topper always slid around. Sometimes we would both be up in the middle of the night, remaking the bed.
I do NOT miss the topper!
What are you two doing??
