Re: Orthodontics can cause sleep apnea - Class Action Lawsuit

No orthodontist can claim that they have the knowledge and qualifications to evaluate impacts to the structure and function of the airway, yet they continue to use techniques that adversely impact the airway. Worse yet, they are not taught to consult respirologists or ear, nose and throat doctors d...

Re: OT: Addressing the Wicked Problem of Obesity

I think we should use more specifics instead of the term "emotional eating". For example my emotion is fear. I am insecure and easily stressed about certain things and the fear is so unpleasant that I feel like I have to self medicate by overeating, which helps to calm me down a little in the near ...

Re: Sub mucus turbinate reduction surgery.

But as I've said before, I would really like to wake up refreshed, without headaches and feel as though I can do stuff throughout the day without feeling like I need a long nap. Waking up and feeling as though you have not slept sucks! Thanks again There is a chance that you have both enlarged turb...

Re: Sub mucus turbinate reduction surgery.

Hello, I would strongly advise against it, I had this surgery in 05 and this has lead to what's known as the empty nose syndrome. It has made life is very challenging to say the least. Sincerely, Adrien I am so sorry for you. By 2005 the medical profession was well aware of Empty Nose Syndrome and ...

Re: OT: Addressing the Wicked Problem of Obesity

Emotional hunger is not the same as enjoying your company at dinner and having a good time. Emotional hunger is more about 'cravings' when you're not really hungry. I wasn't thinking of it that way. Before I was diagnosed with apnea and treated with CPAP, I had almost constant hunger cravings. Late...

Re: Sub mucus turbinate reduction surgery.

I would love for my only problem to be the need for a CPAP. Praying for the best outcome, -kristi Be careful what you pray for. I would much rather have the sole problem to be enlarged turbinates/deviated septum. You can have an inconvenient surgery and maybe a bit of pain and be cured for life. Wi...

Re: Sub mucus turbinate reduction surgery.

BTW, Some may tell you horror stories about this surgery. Ask them the date of their surgery. Techniques have improved in the last 15 years and the success rate is very high and recovery is much easier. Just to confirm: This did not remove your need for cpap therapy, did it? BTW Welcome back. Good ...

Re: OT: Addressing the Wicked Problem of Obesity

1. Teach people how to eat in response to hunger and not emotions. 49er I like about all of your post except this item. Eating is a fun event for me and, in addition to being a response to basic hunger urges, eating is a response to emotion. I always look forward to a good meal and especially so wh...

Re: Sub mucus turbinate reduction surgery.

Sub mucus turbinate reduction surgery. After suffering for years, I had a submucosal resectioning of all six turbinates (badly and chronically swelled) and a correction of a badly deviated septum. I had a severe sore throat in the recovery room and that was cleared up by a small dose of morphine. (...

Jim, That is scary. I am not one to pray the saints our of heaven but I do hope you stay around a lot longer and find some little joys in life. The little ones are the best anyway. All the best.

Re: How long after Nasal Surgery before your back on the hose?

From your old posts it seemed that ASV was working decently for you. Why did you choose to get the surgery? If you have enlarged turbinates and a deviated septum air flow is restricted not only when asleep and using CPAP but also when awake. Even for people with those conditions who do not have sle...

Re: How long after Nasal Surgery before your back on the hose?

Hey guys, Just had Septoplasty and Turbinate Surgery on Monday, and am in the recovery stage. Will have the plastic splints taken out on Monday. Just wondering from those of you that have been through this, about how long after they take out the splints can you go back on the hose? I'm sure the Dr....

Looks like everyone who bought Skechers toning shoes can get a partial refund: Skechers agrees to pay $50 million to settle toning-shoe cases Skechers had been accused of false advertising by the Federal Trade Commission, 44 states and the District of Columbia. Most of the money will go toward parti...
