Re: New CPAP user...small questions
1 - Healing - This depends on quite a few things. Is it just a sore area or was the area rubbed raw. If your mask fits correctly, a sore area should go away fairly quickly and a raw area will take longer. The only time I ended up with a raw area, I had been given a mask that was too small and it did...

Re: NEW cpap user and travel... ?
I've done quit a bit of traveling for work with a CPAP and xyz nailed it with the extension cord. I've also been in a similar situation as Pugsy, once I forgot the power cord and once the hose became separated from the end connector. After the power cord situation, I now set up the machine as soon a...

Re: Calgary and area equipment providers?
It sounds like you hit the jackpot for Tech's. You can't ask for more than that.

Welcome to the site. I'm in Calgary and can recomend a couple in the NW. I would also recomend staying away from VitalAire due to the lack of after sale followup.

Re: Huge all face mask. Is it gone?
FYI - I've always had better luck with the F&P 431 & 407 by keeping the straps loose rather than tight. I found it filled the air bladder a little fuller and allowed more flex before the leaks started.

It appears that the machine is set from 4 to 20. isn't that the original setting for the machine? If these were my stats, I think i would set to 6 to 10 and see how that works.

Re: Confused re: CPAP Prescription in Canada
The DME will probably use an auto machine set to a wide range of pressure and let you used it, then download the data and adjust the pressure based on that until they com up with a good 90% number. They will help you if you are having leaks by adjusting your mask or suggesting a new one if necessary...

Re: Confused re: CPAP Prescription in Canada
I sent you a PM with my contact info. The prices in Calgary for an auto machine with humidifier and mask generally range from $2100 to $2400 depending on the supplier and mask. Online prices in the US can be quite a bit cheaper with sales etc I wouldn`t be suprised to find them in the 30% to 40% ran...

Re: Confused re: CPAP Prescription in Canada
The equipment used for my sister trial the Tech picked the equipment as it was used. If She completed the trial, She would have worked with the Tech to pick the new equipment. As I've got some experience, the Tech let me pick my own equipment, however he did give me his recommendation and opinion on...

Re: Confused re: CPAP Prescription in Canada
Just to clarify my earlier comments about not needing a prescription to purchase a CPAP in Alberta. I purchased a new machine on Nov 22nd without a prescription as my Doctor was not in her office. I was concerned as I did not have a valid prescription and have never used this DME before, however the...

Re: Confused re: CPAP Prescription in Canada
In Canada, the regulation change from Provence to Provence. In Alberta, I just found out that a prescription is not needed to purchase a cpap machine, however the Respiratory Technologists are covered by a code of conduct that ensures they only can give machines out to patients that need them. In my...

Re: CPAP nose pillows or nose mask?
When you wake up at the same time, it may not even be related to CPAP. I was waking up at 4:00 am every day and could not figure out why? The first clue came after the time changed and I started waking up at 5:00 am every day. The second clue happened after I reset the clock in the thermostat and I ...
