Re: Day Studies/Commercial Truck Drivers
We have an update. We did consult with another sleep specialist. Because hubby recently had a night study and is CPAP compliant the doctor at this new practice is only going to make him take the day test. His current sleep doc was going to have him repeat the night study immediately followed by a da...

Re: Day Studies/Commercial Truck Drivers
We're not sure why he ordered a day study. It was out of the blue. We thought maybe all commercial truck drivers on cpap had to complete a day study. Even if you didn't have daytime wakefulness issues, with less than 6 hours of sleep a lot of people might have issues during a day study. He and his s...

Day Studies/Commercial Truck Drivers
Hubby and I are both long time cpap users with good stats and totally compliant. For his DOT physical hubby had to have another night study and the sleep doctor ordered a day study. It was the following day/morning after the night study and he failed it. He and I both sleep little during our night s...

Re: Safe mild sedative to help with adjustment?
I finally used Ambien to get me through adjustment issues. It isn't for everyone but worked for me.

Re: Ambien: good or bad?
I am in the very small minority when it comes to Ambien. I do take it. If I wake up in the middle of the night I can not fall back asleep with my mask on. I tried every OTC med and supplement with no success. I practice good sleep hygiene. I was only getting 3-4 hours of mask time. With Ambien I sle...

Re: Mask Leaks and Apnea numbers
I asked my sleep doctor if mask leaks would make myh AHI higher and was told not always. I wondered about that. - Kim

Re: picking a mask
For my first year on CPAP, I used a Zest nasal mask. It was very small. With Remzzz, I could use my favorite nighttime moisterizer. On my one year anniversary, at a CPAP support group meeting I was able to get a loaner Swift FX for her nasal pillows. SOLD! that is now my go to favorite. - Kim

Re: Swift FX - What about hose routing?
I do not like the slinky hose that comes with my Swift FX. I've made it work though by draping the hose over one of the posts on my bed's headboard. It seems to hang high enough so that the slinky hose isn't pulling on the pillows. I'm going back and forth on getting hose management system/hanger. -...

Re: Wake Up After 2 Hours
My doctor gave me a limited supply of Ambien to get me through what he calls the "honeymoon" period. That helped me adjust a little better. It took probably 3 weeks before I stopped ripping the mask off in my sleep but I have done great the last several nights. It's also great for insomnia! Short t...

Re: Wake Up After 2 Hours
I was the same way in the beginning. You're body will relearn to sleep longer and eventually through the night. It took me a long time. Many months. - Kim

Re: Spouse is hating the CPAP
My spouse was so happy when I got a CPAP machine I could talk about it nonstop and he'd not care. No more snoring to keep him awake. - Kim

Re: Cats and CPAPs just don't mix ...
I've been fortunate here. 6 cats and 2 dogs with access to the bed at night and one big hubby and everyone works around our machines at night (hubby has a CPAP too). No one messes with hoses, machines etc. Even my freaky cat doesn't mind the machine and still snuggles up at night. - Kim

Re: Swift fx drying my eyes out something awful!
I just started using this mask and love it. But I too hate the exhaust vent. It's so low and I like to snuggle covers up to my chin that I end up covering the vent. I hate the slinky connection hose too

Re: Masks...which one?
The mask I used in my sleep study was the one for me a nasal mask - Zest Petite. I used that one for a year and wanted to try nasal pillows. I've been trying a Swift FX for her and am loving it. I couldn't tolerate the nasal pillows a year ago but can now.
