Re: as soon as i put on mask i become wide awake
In contrast, as soon as I put my mask on I start to feel sleepy. It wasn't always like this - I started out like you. Someone here suggested wearing my mask for a few minutes before sleeping to acclimate myself to it. Worked like a charm - even after 2 years, I still watch a few minutes of tv with t...

Re: How do you fight unfair hospital bills in the US?
Ditto what greatunclebill said. This is the most effective way to make the hospital look at their billing to make sure it's correct (and to plant the seed that they can't overcharge you what their contract states with the insurance company) - otherwise they'll just keep pestering you, and eventually...

Re: CPAP and driving in Australia - question for Aussies
I wonder whether I'll have to fill out an affidavit when I visit Australia for a month this year, in order to be able to drive. I have both diabetes and OSA, but at least being an Aussie I have driven on the left side of the road - DH might be more of a hazard as I remember I was when first moving t...

Re: Noise
I would consider placing your machine above floor level if I read your post correctly. Even if you are meticulously clean, dust is picked up by the air intake, and if your machine is on the floor then you won't be receiving the best air possible. Regarding the noise - we sleep with a box fan on all ...

Re: One Month on CPAP - Major Disappointment
As you may remember, after 2 years I still wake up feeling sleepy on occasions. I wouldn't give up my CPAP for anything as it's reduced my apnea events to a constant near zero. I'm looking at other reasons for my sleepiness, with the guidance of my neurologist. One of the things she suggested was my...

Re: having trouble with masks
Nasal pillows with a chinstrap worked great for me in keeping my trap shut, stopping the air escaping my mouth. Finally after 2 years, my brain understood what I was trying to do, and now I don't use the chinstrap.

Re: Why Sleep Apnea Victims Cannot Sleep On Their Backs?
After my diagnosis of sleep apnea, a doctor provided some instructions one of which included not sleeping on my back. Please, why sleep apnea victims are forbidden to sleep On their backs? Best thing you can do is get a copy of your full sleep study and results - it will surely tell you whether you...

Re: New cpap user, it is getting tougher not easier to use it
If you keep your machine on the floor, it might be wise to keep a close check on your filters. It's not recommended you keep your machine on the floor as the air intake picks up all the dust. Regarding the noise - we use a box fan every night - this mutes pretty much any low-level noises. If you don...

Re: Agrivation with Agriphhoweveritsspellt.
Aerophagia = H-E-double hockey sticks! Somewhere, I read that lying on the left side is better than the right side or the back-- it has something to do with the routing of your "plumbing". Some people find relief using lower exhale pressure (EPR , A-Flex, or C-Flex) Others use a bilevel machine (di...

Re: 0% REM isn't a bad thing?
You might try doing some reading at http://www.myzeo.com . You don't need to register, and in fact can't unless you have a Zeo machine. There is a lot of great information about the sleep stages and their importance. From what I understand we need a certain amount of REM as it's the restorative stag...

Re: CPAP failing due to dry mouth
The best way to avoid dry mouth is to train yourself to keep your mouth shut. It's more a problem of the air escaping out of your mouth, not just mouth breathing, so a FFM isn't a solution. Rest your tongue just behind your top teeth - this creates the best position to keep your mouth closed. It too...

Please go to the User Control Panel and add your machine, mask etc., preferably in text, not pics.
We sleep with a box fan on every night - white noise neutralises any noises from my CPAP gear, as well as outside noises.

Re: My Zeo Bedside no longer sounds an alarm?
Ugh!! Lazer - so sorry to hear about the ebay experience and it makes me very nervous - that's where Santa bought my Zeo from. It certainly appeared to be in brand new factory packaging. I mean there wasn't a crease in the cellophane type covering on everything, it was tight as a drum etc. etc. Rega...
