Re: A flat pressure line

I noticed this morning that my pressure lines are flat on SH, but varying normally when I read the data using the Devilbiss Intellipap software. If I go back and look at previous nights on the SH software, pressure changes are noted through the night up to a point. The point that I no longer showed ...

Re: New version of DeVilbiss Smartlink

I installed the Smartlink upgrade and it went just fine with the exception that it took forever to install. This morning, I got an another upgrade request and ran it. When it finished my icons were re-arranged in order on the left side. For over two years, I have had my icons arranged in related gro...

Re: my cpap doesnt help me

When the technician put a full face mask on me during my titration study, I fell asleep and woke up feeling like I was driving at 60mph with my head out the window. I couldn't breathe with all that air being forced up my nose. I sat up in the bed and took it off. The tech came back in to see what wa...

Re: Just Curious

I changed early last year from a non-data compatible machine to an Intellipap Auto and found myself ranging in AHI from 8 to 15. I ordered the Smartlink SW and started looking at the data. What I found was that I almost never had an actual blocked airway apnea, but lots of hypopneas, which are perio...

Re: How often do you check your efficacy data?

I responded daily to the poll, but that's just the AHI score on the display. A couple of times a week, I pull the card out and look at the data using the Smartlink or Sleepyhead software, especially if I have an AHI jump or I think I had a bad night. My average runs about 4 to 4.5 and I think I coul...

Re: Struggling on new machine (DeVilbiss): high HI and tired

I went from a Resmed M100 (fixed pressure) to the Devilbiss Intellipap Auto last August and have have to experiment with settings, also. I didn't feel that the algorithm was keeping me "open" due to the exhale pressure release being so free. I was used to breathing in and out against a full pressure...

Re: OT: What changes to the air does natural gas cause?

A few months ago my wife and I began to notice a very faint smell like gas. We called the HVAC people, since our CO detector was showing 4. They showed up and found a cracked PVC connector that recirculates plenum gases back through the burner a second time before venting to the outside (so much for...

Re: How often do people replace their cushions?

I must be a perfect fit for my nasal pillows. I have never ordered a new set. I have replaced the entire mask twice in two years and liked the fit of my old nasal pillows from my first Opus 360 better than the ones that came with my new one. All the Opus pillows are soft and supple with good support...

Re: Do any of you sleep all the way through the night?

I vary from 6.5 to 8.5 hours a night, mostly 7 something. I find melatonin to be helpful, along with waiting to get sleepy before going to bed. Melatonin seems to take an hour to an hour and a half to work for me. Once I'm asleep, I usually sleep soundly all night after two years on CPAP. The right ...

Re: What;s the worst tip you ever had from CPAPTalk?

The mention of a certain type of surgical tape (with a picture of the package) for taping the lips shut. I spent the next day wearing the adhesive off my cheeks. It was reminiscent of duct tape residue when it's been on something for a while. Way too sticky.

Re: AHI events while awake???

On most machines, 10 seconds without initiating a breath cycle will log a hypopnea or clear airway event. Shallow breathing will do the same (50% or less volume than average). I catch myself forgetting to breath occasionally while drifting off to sleep. I seem to consciously acknowledge this just ab...

Re: Higher pressure leading to higher AHI?

My titrated pressure was 9 in my sleep study. I found after buying and auto machine that at a fixed pressure of 9, I was at an AHI of 15 at times. Most of my AHI has always been hypopnea and most nights I have no obstructive apnea. I have experimented with various ranges and found that a range of 9-...

Re: Self titrate? Guessing game?

I respect the training and knowledge that doctors possess, but sometimes they tend to miss the problems due to a lack of or a concentration on a specialization. You know the saying, "If your only tool is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail." For about a decade, I had episodes of premature vent...

Re: Average CPAP AHI of 3.1, should I be concerned?

A good night for me is 4.5 AHI. I tend to range in levels of 4.5 to 11. Of course, that's because I have a short beard and full face masks leak like sieves on a beard, even cut closely to a millimeter or so. When my pressure rises, I tend to lip flutter and the AHI rises a little. Tape helps, but ac...
