Re: Prescribed range 5-12. Why a range?

If 11 cm H2O is your "goal pressure", then 5 cm H2O sounds kind of low. You can look at your sleep data and see what's happening, but if you've been titrated at 11, then my experience would put your lower bound at maybe 8, subject to your comfort and looking at your sleep data. The idea of a range i...

Re: Anyone NOT been titrated?

They wanted to do titration at my sleep studies. The first sleep study didn't have enough sleep time to be able to, so the sleep doctor guessed at initial settings. He was pretty close using his experience, I guess...Started at 8 - 10, and after a few years I'm at 10 - 12. For my recent second sleep...

Re: Riding in a car and using my CPAP

Yes, there is a ResMed 12VDC to 24VDC converter for your cpap. You would plug that into a car 12V receptacle and then plug the output of the converter into the ResMed cpap power connector. Be sure to get the right converter for your model of cpap (S9 or 10) and you'll be fine.

Re: TAP PAP Nasal Pillow Mask - anyone tried it?

Been using it for a couple of years now...fits well, very little problem with leaks even for a side-sleeper, and no headgear. Very stable compared to most masks with headgear that can slide around and leak more as a result. A certain amount of leakage is fine and expected, but I've found as a side s...

Re: What kind of face soap do you use

I use Cetaphil, and have for many years now. It about as gentle as it gets (soap-less), and leaves my skin clean.

Re: Feeling a big rush of air when I turn to my side

There are good fitting videos on youtube for almost every mask. At least all the ones that I've looked up, anyways. The videos can be very helpful in figuring out how things should be adjusted for the best results. It does sound like your mask is too loose, but making it tighter isn't always the rig...

Re: Do you still visit your Dr. every year?

Yes, I still see my sleep doctor every year. He's a very knowledgeable and personable guy, good to talk with about sleep apnea therapy. And my DME tells me that I need to see him once a year to keep Medicare paying for my supplies. Not sure how it works for people that use Medicare and don't see the...

Re: CPAP and Cold Weather Camping

There are things that you can do to insulate your cpap tubing to prevent condensation. We camped up at Glacier Park a few years ago, and then went up to Banff and Jasper, camping along the Icefields Parkway. Got down to freezing (32 degrees) at night several nights, no problems. I used a "snuggly" o...

Re: 90% pressure level

Following up on this I read elsewhere on the interweb the following: "Most people strive to set their "APAP" (not CPAP) pressures to 2-4 cm's below the 90% and 2 or 3 above the 90% in order to accommodate the unknowns." I don't understand that. Can someone explain? Yes this is good general advice. ...

How about a nasal mask that incorporates a mouth guard into the design?

Not a full mouth guard, just the top part. If that would do it for you, then this seems like a good possibility.

There are lots of videos on youtube about how to fit various masks, as well as reviews, how to clean, etc. Good stuff in general.

Re: Obviously he/she/it came back

Pugsy, as a moderator you shouldn't need to be responsible for eliminating automated spammers in real time, that just doesn't make sense. That isn't really what a moderator should be spending time doing...there needs to be other solutions for that sort of auto-generated forum spam. Hopefully, there ...

Looks like our Asian spammer is back...just zapped one of his posts and blocked the account.

I suspect I will be busy tonight.

My old posts don't have the "delete" button anymore...assume that it's the usual thing about once someone has posted after you, the delete button on your post disappears.
