Re: Flow Limit

How do you feel of the sleep quality? the flow limitation looks worrisome to me.

Re: Low AHI, but is my breathing normal?

Hello, Mike. Could you zoom in to about a 5-minute interval where we can see a spike or two? You may just be sighing in your sleep, or your may be experiencing arousals. I'm not sure we'll be able to tell the difference, but let's try. I looked at an older thread of yours, back when you were using ...

Re: Are these good numbers for a beginner?

His flow limitations at 3 and 4am (REM sleep periods) looks like what I saw in my data. I bet the REM sleep were still interrupted. How was his subjective feeling about sleep quality?

Re: flow rate irregularities during REM

I got another one-- "Train Wreck Sleep Architecture". Based on what has been stated so far, IMO you don't have an "SDB" problem, you got a "S" problem. That's a good one. Gotta remember that. TWSA Sort of like this guy below who didn't even have OSA (per in lab sleep study AHI 1 ish) but had really...

Re: flow rate irregularities during REM

If you don't feel great breathing through your nose during the day, then nasal congestion could be a cause. nasal congestion will get worse in REM sleep period - blood vessel expanding. High pressure cannot treat congestion in the nose. a few things to check: do you still see similar pattern with si...

CPAP humidifier question

Airsense 10 watertank hold more water 380ml vs Dreamstation's 325ml. My question is can Airsense 10/Dreamstation do 8 hrs at max humidity?

I am using last gen PR machine and it cannot do whole night even at humidity level 4.

Re: New APAP user (UARS) some questions

Hi, I received my APAP machine about a week ago for treatment of my UARS. It's a loan machine for a trial period of a few weeks. Not really feeling hugely different yet. I just wanted to run a few things past people. First, here's three of the nights so far: https://imgur.com/a/2CLpYMG Q 1: Obvious...

Re: Do I have UARS?

I think the pressure is too low at <5. try starting at 7-8 (personally I like fixed pressure with EPR 1-2 even with a biPAP), and then go up gradually if you could tolerate it.

Re: Do I have UARS?

it's highly likely caused by the tongue. telltale sign is more flow limitations in REM sleep period - like from 4 to 6 am

my situation is similar. are you feeling better with PAP therapy?

Re: Do I have UARS?

can you post a pic of your tongue? a large tongue is a big risk factor for UARS/OSA.

which Friedman tongue position do you have:

Re: I'm a dentist treating myself! CPAP Results... Advice please?

so it happens at lower EPAP 8-9 cm as well. Using moderately low constant pressure might work better for you, with 0 EPR.

A good thing is that a flaggy soft palate is easily treatable with UPPP.

Re: I'm a dentist treating myself! CPAP Results... Advice please?

it could be due to the high EPAP, but do you see similar flow pattern at lower pressures, at usual REM times like 4-6 am? try lying down and relax jaw and throat muscles, you should be able to induce the blockage by breathing in and out at different velocities. repeat the test by sticking the tongue...
