Re: Will running a humidifier dry cause damage?

Thanks for the help!

I have turned it off for now, but when I turn it back on I'll have to make sure and keep it filled!

Will running a humidifier dry cause damage?

I woke up last night to a weird smell. I checked my humidifier and it was dry as a bone. Will running a heated humidifier dry cause any damage?

The temp wasn't set very high. I did turn the humidifier off (and filled it) before going back to bed.

Thanks!

I just place my head near the edge of a very regular (thin and soft) pillow and let the mask extend out over the edge.

Don't forget to put a small pillow between your knees.

Re: Pillows??

I, too, just use my regular pillows. It helps that I've always been an "edge of the pillow" sleeper because of allergies.

Good luck and remember that patience is a virtue. You will adjust to your new breathing and sleeping.

Re: Two questions

On your first question, I don't believe any of them are that sophisticated....yet.

I really wish they could automatically compensate for the atmospheric conditions in the winter and prevent the condensation in my mask!

Re: Newbie with information overload!

I work for a large blue insurance company, and it's imortant to use a network DME if at all possible because your insurance company has negotiated discounts with the DME that will save you money!

Re: Poll: Length of time on xPAP before feeling 90-100% restored

A really hard question to answer because I suspect that I've had a problem for years, so I really don't have anything to compare it to.

I'm sure it's better, but restored?? Hard to say.

Re: Im so frustrated!

Ive been on it for 4 nights now, and getting progressively more frustrated. 4 nights is nothing. Just remember that you are "unlearning" years of sleep habits and learning new ones. My first week was hell, and the second week I caught a cold! It takes time to get used to the machine and mask. Some ...

Re: Newbie To Having Insurance. Have Questions.

Just remember that a there will be discouts if you use a DME that is on your insurance carrier's approved list.

I work for a large blue insurance company and the discounts are worth the "pain" of working with your insurance company.

Re: Newbie would like to hear success stories, please.

I had my one yearsish followup last month. The doctor was ecstatic! According to my machine stats the number of times I stopped breathing per hour dropped to 0.1 (My Doc says that may just be me adjusting the mask), and my o2 stayed above 92%! It dropped to 50% during my sleep study! There is hope!
