Re: If I switch from Respironics to Resmed, do I have to give up my masks?

No your masks should do just fine. Hose connectors may appear different because of proprietary connections for the heating element. Typically, you can connect non-heated hoses to most machines, but can't connect heated hoses to machines they weren't designed for. I'm unsure why you think the ResMed...

Re: If I switch from Respironics to Resmed, do I have to give up my masks?

You can use any mask with any machine (except for maybe a couple of the tiny travel machines that use special hoses). If your current mask doesn't seem to want to fit to the ResMed hose (unless you are using a heated hose you can even switch hoses) it's usually because a little piece off the Respir...

If I switch from Respironics to Resmed, do I have to give up my masks?

I currently use a Respironics System One Auto CPAP, now a little old (5 yrs) with a knob that's falling off. I use it with one of two masks -- the Wisp and the Dreamwear. Now, yesterday, a friend gave me a ResMed VPAP Auto machine. I don't know if it's better than my current one. It's lighter and pr...

Re: Seeking recommendations for a new AutoCPAP machine

Running the humidifier takes a lot of power. To make the battery last longer, I use an inline Heat Moisture Exchanger. It has to be as close as possible to to your mouth and nose so it can capture moisture from your breath. An HME does not work as well as a regular humidifier, but it is better than...

Re: Seeking recommendations for a new AutoCPAP machine

My usual mask is a P30i, but for battery use I switch to an F30 or F20 with the Breas/Z1 HME (available from Amazon or our host). I have a Dreamstation Go Auto that works fairly well off the battery using an HME. Unfortunately: 1) It works very similarly to a regular Dreamstation. I do better with ...

Re: What are best practices in an extended power outage?

...but mostly I plan to live without electricity during that time, so I don't have an overall electrical solution. What about your refrigerator? It'll go dark. I'll try to keep it cold as long as I can by not opening it very often, and try to eat as much of t he food in it before it goes bad. Froze...

Re: What are best practices in an extended power outage?

I couldn't agree more! Unless the OP is ginna sleep solid for 2 weeks looks like other plans for the 2 week outage would cover CPAP needs. I have friends in Louisiana and there prep for extended power outages is a generator which will run on propane/gas and a 1000 gallon propane tank. I am in a slo...

Re: Seeking recommendations for a new AutoCPAP machine

I'm also assuming that somewhere in there there needs to be a solar battery to recharge the battery that recharges the CPAP?

Re: Seeking recommendations for a new AutoCPAP machine

Sorry everyone, but could you possibly give me the dumbed-down version of what I would actually need to get to have an off-grid solution?

Re: Seeking recommendations for a new AutoCPAP machine

for battery power, see this thread- viewtopic/t114012/Choosing-a-Battery.ht ... =capn+loki This is precisely the thread that overwhelmed and confused me before. It's a lot to digest for a beginner who doesn't know much about electricity. Plus, I can't really figure out how this would work in a situ...

Seeking recommendations for a new AutoCPAP machine

Hello everyone. It's coming up on five years since I started using my CPAP. As I understand, once I reach that mark I'll be eligible for a new machine. Good thing, because the knob is falling off the old one. I know that a lot has changed in that time in CPAP technology so I'm wondering if anyone ha...

Re: When I use my CPAP I clench my teeth

If you read my post you'll see that I already have a mouth guard -- or currently, actually I wear invisilign -- to protect my teeth. That's not my concern. With a mouth guard I still clench my teeth though and wake up with a jaw/neck/shoulder etc. ache.

When I use my CPAP I clench my teeth

I've been using a CPAP since 2015 or 2016. I usually use the Wisp mask. I've noticed a long time ago that when I wear the CPAP I tend to clench my teeth. It's been becoming more noticeable lately. When I wake up I often feel tightness and aching not only in my jaw but also throughout my shoulders, c...
