Re: Sleep Apnea

Hello and welcome. Might as well go ahead and get registered on the forum. Would be a good idea to go ahead and read up on machine choices to make sure the one you get best suits your needs. Yeah, we really like it when someone comes in here BEFORE they get handed a pile of equipment they don't kno...

Re: CPAP/BIPAP while awake

Using your PAP while awake is something we will recommend to help someone get used to the machine, BUT for the purposes of your therapy please, please use it while asleep. IF you are having issues please let us help you. Absolutely agree. Still, the hacker in me wants to see if I could fool the sle...

Re: DreamMapper

Here's mine as shown in Dream Mapper. Nobody else looks at your account so I think the only reason they want it is to give you help and ads based on your machine. If this doesn't match your serial number format, you might try entering this number like this, and change a digit or two near the end (ju...

Re: Health Savings Account (HSA) used to buy battery for CPAP?

I contend yes. From my HSA website: Batteries - Expenses paid for the purchase of batteries are reimbursable when they are used for the sole purpose of an item that is also covered. This would include, but not be limited to, batteries for blood pressure machines, wheelchairs, heart defibrillators, e...

Re: Heated Hose uses Twice the water

My tank is always empty in the morning. I've always used a heated hose.

Most of the evaporation is coming from the heated plate in the humidifier - I'd be surprised if the hose added much... it's just trying to not allow the already evaporated water from condensing.

Re: Just Curious: Do any long term CPAP users like the ramp?

Tried it for a while, didn't like it.

I think some folks with higher pressures find it useful.

Re: "Mask Fit" available on Dreammapper, but not Sleepyhead

It seems that the Dreammapper software gives this statistic, but I can't find a comparable one on Sleepyhead. It's towards the right hand side of the screen. Somehow, it can distinguish between poor mask fit and other leaks such as holes in the hose. I'm not sure how it would handle a well fitting ...

Re: New machine choices

I doubt they would have lost money. They may not have made as much as they want but they wouldn't have lost money. It's not like APAPs cost double cpap only or anything near that. All insurance (and this includes Medicare) pay by HCPCS billing codes for anything...not just cpap stuff. While you may...

Re: OT-Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.......

We had a bedbug problem a few years ago - I think I brought them home from the hospital - or maybe my sleep study.

Good news is they don't carry any diseases. They're just gross, and very hard to get rid of.

Re: New machine choices

Insurance pays by HCPCS billing code...not by brand...not by model. They pay the same for a bare bones basic no data brick as they do for a full data apap. DMEs know this and that's why they will often dispense the model that they make the most money on. OK, so in my breakdown below - the base pric...

Re: New machine choices

Insurance pays by the applicable insurance code...... E0601 ......which is the very same code for ANY CPAP.......from the lowliest "brick" to the top-of-the-line APAP. You might as well get the best one you can get for the money. I don't understand this; I've seen comments like this before. Are you...

Re: Concern over Legionnaires Disease?

No. As was previously stated, when everybody takes advantage of what "insurance will pay", the cost of insurance goes up. It was philosophies like yours (give me all I can get), way back when, which pushed me into doing my longevity tests on my "consumables" to see just how long they WOULD last. . ...

Re: DME sold me discontinued REMstar machine

The bottom line is that I have a good machine with a few minor issues that can be easily fixed. There's some chance that PR will stop making the replacement parts for the discontinued machine at some point before your machine dies completely, so maybe get your spares stocked up. I've had my 460 for...
