Gizmo to help you get BACK to sleep
I am a ...naturally... early riser and light sleeper. Even with the CPAP greatly reducing my daytime nappiness, I still can wake up at 2:00 AM and find a jillion things to think about. Enter the gizmo: http://www.amazon.com/Prism-Glasses-Eye-Bed-Spectacles/dp/B000RZNBF4 Now I happened to get mine at...

Re: Great CPAP usage.... UNTIL A COLD!
Hmmm.... I don't use a full face mask....nor... the humidifier.
Think I'll try the mask first. Although it drove me friggin NUTS at the outset and I couldn't tolerate CPAP until I got the nose mask.
Thanks.

Great CPAP usage.... UNTIL A COLD!
I am of the opinion that CPAP should NOT be used when you have a cold. All my fears of starting CPAP a few months ago went unrealized. I had a very nice transition and have had noticeable results. But I've gotten a fairly mild cold this year and kept using the device until I got runny and blowy. Now...

Used to CPAP now, but still weird sleep patterns.
I have adjusted to the thing pretty comfortably and tolerate it well, ....BUT.... I am still dozing off too early in the evening. I am DONE at 8:30-9 seemingly no matter what. I just doze off. Now if by chance I do make it to 10 or 11, I have a VERY good CPAP night. Get up around a NORMAL 7 or 8 and...

Can CPAP cause dependence on it?
Just curious. Thinking of it as I was using it last night.
Could the ....assistance... of the pressure feed of air weaken whatever was flopping around or closing even more than if no CPAP assistance were present?

Re: Full Face vs. Nasal Pillows? Mouth Breather
I like the nasal MASK better than the nasal pillow. It doesn't stream air directly into your nose and it allows excess pumped air to escape and give you a more open feeling. I don't like the FULL face mask at all. I had more leakage and farting and squealing with the full face. The nasal MASK fixed ...

What the heck did I do..... RIGHT?
After all the problems, last night went PERFECT.
The mask didn't feel "pinchy" and the flow was comfy.
Coors, we had a power outage so couldn't start CPAP til 2AM but everything went GREAT.
Now if THAT is what I have to look forward to, then YIPPEE!

Re: Urine volume way down with CPAP
answering last 2 replies. the meds have been off for quite a while. My septic liver was preceded by low blood pressure which the ...doctors.... looked on as GOOD news. Apparently low BP is a sign of infection. .............................. and what worries me about liver is http://www.uihealthcare....

Re: Urine volume way down with CPAP
One of the "problems" I'm having is with my primary care guy who does not give any advice on the sleep stuff and the sleep lab (Kaiser for both) is so busy that they are hard to reach. I have almost PERFECT labs only a week old but I had a septic liver and no one seems to want to address my extremel...

Re: Urine volume way down with CPAP
Very thirsty most nights. The CPAP really dries me out, but even without it I drink all night long. No diabetes. Had it. No longer. A1C is 6.2 and has been for years now. No diabetes meds. But I do feel thirsty at NIGHT. 8 oz PER DAY would be a serious lack of fluid. Doctor (?) took me off all BP me...

I do that. VOLUMES of water. Almost all day long.
USUALLY it came out at night.
Now only after disconnecting the CPAP

Could be anxiety. I tend to that.
I did take half a xanax and felt better, but wow, what a wakeup.

Urine volume way down with CPAP
This may be weird, but my urine output is way way WAY down with the CPAP running.
If I disconnect early the flow and urge returns to normal.

Woke up panting
I stopped CPAP last night at 12:30 AM because I awoke taking VERY short breaths. I'd call it panting except it was light and not heavy. Very uncomfortable. Lasted for about an hour after taking off the mask. Rest of night was pretty comfortable. Today I'm a BIT tired. Breathing has become normal. An...

Re: Nasal pillows are hurting me bigtime
Have you tried just the nasal mask?
This is magnitudes more comfy than any of the full face devices they strapped me into during evaluation.
