Re: Blues, Woes, and Worries of a New APAP User

If you want, after you see the maximum where you machine is going most nights you can lower the maximum to just above that number. Though there's no reason to lower the max setting in that case, since the machine's not going any higher anyway ;) I know that but I was thinking anti-anxiety stress ou...

Re: Newbie - Respironics brick question

I have a question about the Respironics basic brick machine. I was given this machine by my doctor six weeks ago. I understand from what I've read here that it's basically useless to ME as far as any information on the SD card, but does the machine record any advanced information that the doctor ca...

It's probably the mask fit. I'm going to get some leakage because of my mustache but unless I adjust the straps tight enough to eliminate the leaks, I guess I'll always have them.
Have you tried nasal pillows like the p10? The mustache might not be a problem with pillows.

Re: Leak Rate

How do you fix large leaks? First you have to find the cause by identifying where the leak is occurring. Is it an improperly fitting mask, a hole in the tubing, a weak or cracked connection? If it's the mask watch online fitting videos and some even have guides you can print off to measure for your...

Re: Blues, Woes, and Worries of a New APAP User

Did you have any problems going to sleep? Were you able to go back to sleep without much difficulty? That cluster of OA's, that the machine topped out at, may have been one of your wake ups. It may have been from back sleeping or REM. It's not unusual to need different pressure settings at home than...

Re: A month into CPAP for mild apnea

At this point, would you guys say my machine is treating me effectively since it is regularly under 1 AHI? Statiscally speaking yes but your flow limitations are not figured in that number. The machine looks at them as beginning flow interruptions and it will try to increase your pressure. You need...

Re: Blues, Woes, and Worries of a New APAP User

I try to stick with Pugsy's suggestions but PaleRider and I run higher pressures so to us an 8 or 9 is just a small bump. While to beginners it may be a bigger speed bump. The more you learn and use your machine the less anxious you will be about taking control. And there will always be someon...

Re: Blues, Woes, and Worries of a New APAP User

Your question was "am I doing something wrong"? It looks like you are doing a lot right. Your using your machine without leaks and getting pretty good reports. You are not doing something wrong but your machine can't help you as much as possible at the settings it's at now. If you don't have your cl...

Re: Blues, Woes, and Worries of a New APAP User

Change your settings like Pugsy suggested or the minimum of 9 that PaleRider suggested. The important thing is to evaluate the settings for a few days. Your pressure isn't high enough now and you will probably need the 9 minimum but you can try the 8 and see if that lowers your events and you sleep ...

Re: UARS - Upper airway resistance Syndrom

With a physical need for surgery, I see no need to have delayed it. It may even help make CPAP use easier. But what I question is why wait a year before doing the sleep study? Even if the ENT had hoped it would solve the problem, after sufficient healing time and the problem remained, I would think ...

Not bad screen shot. :) Next time move the Mask Pressure out and replace it with the Pressure graph. Agree you need more pressure.

Re: A month into CPAP for mild apnea

I would agree with PaleRider's suggestion of setting your machine at minimum 8 and maximum 20 and evaluate that for a few days to see how you are sleeping.

Re: A month into CPAP for mild apnea

On your Sleepyhead you have some of your events turned off. Look at the bottom left and see the events where the LL shows a red flag. Scroll throw those and make sure they are all green. Also some graphs are more important than others. This site will help you organize your graphs. The calendar and p...

There also seems to be a lot of condensation in the water chamber, especially at the front, covered in water droplets. Is that normal?
Yes, for mine.
