Re: Stomach-sleeping + mask = dizziness?

Just speculating on the cause of vertigo...when your neck is at an acute angle, it does put strain or compression on the arteries and nerves. This can cause reduced blood flow and a sense of vertigo. I'd say avoid that posture. Try a search for "Cervical vertigo". The experience definitely matches ...

Re: Stomach-sleeping + mask = dizziness?

This is my nuttiness but it works for me - I sleep alone ('cept for my cat) and so can get away with this - I cut a 3" wide, 4" deep and 1' long 'trench' in my memory foam mattress starting at the head and going towards the foot, with an electric knife, and rounded top edges with scissors. I have a...

Re: Stomach-sleeping + mask = dizziness?

Any chance the vent holes got covered by bedding etc, causing you to rebreathe CO2? That could be! Normally I hear the air flow from the Wisp getting louder if something partially covers the vent, and make sure to move the covers out of the way. With this one, the diffuser made the air flow very qu...

Stomach-sleeping + mask = dizziness?

I just had a strange experience while trying out the Eson nasal mask (my normal one is Wisp, but I wanted to see if a more active-sleeper-friendly one would be better). I have a habit of stomach-sleeping, but it looks like this mask (being larger than the Wisp or the AirFit P10 I've used before) cau...

Re: New user questions

3) Those of you that have nasal masks, are you able to move onto your side without leaks? I mainly slept on my back last night. Once I got on my side safely but another time I tried it and felt air coming up towards my eye. I gave up kind of quick, but long term I'd like to be able to still sleep o...

Re: Newly diagnosed and feeling abandoned

I am using the new Res-Med for women with the nasal pillows and the airflow seems to be waking me up almost every night Switching from nasal pillows to a nasal mask solved this problem for me. I think the pillows create more of a pressure sensation in the nose. I guess a lot of people don't notice ...

That's a good idea. I've noticed that naps with the CPAP lead to less grogginess than naps without it.

Re: Sleep with vs. without CPAP

My sleep efficiency went down 10% when I started the CPAP. I have an 8 AHI and the sleep doctor told me if I could tolerate the CPAP, don't worry about it. I get up the same amount to go to the bathroom and the CPAP is a total drag on my sleep. I feel worse with it on the next day. So why do I wear...

Re: Sleep with vs. without CPAP

It sounds to me like OSA might have been an appropriate diagnosis in your case and CPAP is actually making a positive difference for you. Definitely looks like it! I can see why a person might be in denial for many years about having it. Those little awakenings are so unnoticeable, I was very surpr...

Re: Sleep with vs. without CPAP

Obviously if you wake many times, can't get back to sleep, have to pee, feel mask is uncomfortable or leaky, then how you sleep will eventually affect how you feel the next day and presumably how your stats look Thankfully only 1 awakening per night or so with the machine! Still working on some lea...

Sleep with vs. without CPAP

I've noticed that my sleep feels like it's the same with or without the CPAP. Just about the same number of hours, some phases with dreams, some without, all as usual. The feeling in the morning/daytime after CPAP is way different though- more energy, more clarity and focus. Tonight I pulled off my ...

Re: Auxiliary Power for Machine?

If you have a smartphone that you charge overnight, there are (Android) apps that can be used as a power failure alarm. I'm guessing IPhone has them but I don't know for sure. -Bill Looks like there's one for Android- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.co.sjbcomputerconsultants.powerc...

Re: Auxiliary Power for Machine?

Sure confined spaces can contain hazardous fumes or lack O2 but unless & until you are going into confined spaces I would not worry about. I would/do worry about how I can power my cpap when the commercial power goes out. For that reason some people (myself included) use DC power on the cpap machin...

Re: Auxiliary Power for Machine?

Full face masks have an anti-asphyxia valve for this very reason. In theory, with a nasal mask, you'll open your mouth and breathe that way. There's probably not much risk unless you do something like tape your mouth shut. Thank you! There is a chin strap that I got just in case, it's pretty elasti...
