Re: New Philips Respironics' Amara View Full Face CPAP Mask

I've tried using my Padacheek strap covers twice now with this mask and they caused so much leaking that I had to pull them off in the middle of the night. But the Amara View is such a huge improvement over the FitLife that I'm not going to complain.

Re: New Philips Respironics' Amara View Full Face CPAP Mask

I've had this mask for three weeks. When I printed out the sizing guide online, my nose was on the line between the small and medium sizes. The DME had already preordered me a medium, so I went with that. I used the medium for a week but had to overtighten to compensate for nose leaks, which was lea...

Re: newbie with Amara View mask

A week or so ago, I asked my DME to ask their Phillips-Respironics rep if they were ever planning to make a medium FitLife. He said no, but they plan to have the Amara View available in two months and said they are currently testing it in Idaho. I'm very curious about this mask as well!

FitLife side sleepers - pillow recommendations?

I finally got a large FitLife mask to replace the small my DME originally let me borrow. I have been wearing my sleep mask over the FitLife to stabilize it to allow for better side sleeping, as I read here that would help. The small didn't fit to the contours of my face since it was too small, but I...

Re: Should I increase my pressure?

Google says the half-life of gabapentin is 5-7 hours and is unaffected by dose or following multiple dosing. I can believe it, because if I wake up later in the night, it's clearly not helping me anymore. I am taking iron since RLS has been linked to low iron levels, which I have, but since I've had...

Re: Should I increase my pressure?

My neuro said that I'm taking the gabapentin early enough (8pm) that it shouldn't affect me in the morning, but I will ask him when I see him again at the end of March if I'm still not improving. I may have to try the cervical collar next. I have been just so averse to wearing even more stuff at bed...

Re: Should I increase my pressure?

Medication: birth control, flonase, gabapentin Health conditions: high cholesterol, allergies, restless legs My sleep quality has increased since starting CPAP. No more nocturia. I've had insomnia off and on for years but even that is improving thanks to the gapabentin since RLS was just making it w...

Re: Should I increase my pressure?

Yes. My overall AHI during the sleep study was 4, so it's not like I can go much further down in terms of AHI since it's always less than 1 now. After being on CPAP for two months and not feeling any less tired, I thought trying to decrease the flow limitations might help in case I fell more under U...

Re: Should I increase my pressure?

It's been a week at the higher pressures and I am still not seeing an improvement in my energy levels. I've had aerophagia/gastric insufflation all week which hasn't been too fun either. This was last night's chart, which was typical of most days this week. Lots of maxing out. Should I stay at this ...

Re: Should I increase my pressure?

OK, last night I changed my min pressure to be 11, kept my max pressure at 12, and raised the EPR from 1 to 3 (which was MUCH more comfortable, thank you palerider). This is what the night looked like: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/25514075/sh2.png It looks like the amplitude of most of the fl...

Re: Should I increase my pressure?

Thanks for the replies, Pugsy and Palerider. UARS was what I asked my sleep dr about because I fit the symptoms much better than sleep apnea. He just brushed me off, said he didn't know what was wrong with me, and told me to go see a neurologist. I increased the minimum pressure to 8 last night and ...

Should I increase my pressure?

I have been on CPAP for two months now. I've seen some improvements in my symptoms (no more nocturia, headache, body aches, or trouble remembering nouns; more emotionally stable) but no difference in my energy levels (which may partially be because of having surgery a month ago). My sleep study came...

Re: Could this be UARS?

Hi cathyf, Thanks for your response. I have been using a Zeo since 2011 and I usually do hit REM earlier than that - but usually my longer REM cycles are in the morning hours, and my deep cycles are at the start of sleep. I assumed the reasons I fell into REM so late were: 1 - I had horrible menstru...

Re: Could this be UARS?

Good point, 49er. My dr refused to write me a prescription but said I could buy direct secondhand from someone else if I really wanted to. I am considering it; I just don't know how likely I will be to find the exact machine I want used.
