Re: Errant readings, breath control, cardiac stuff, etc
Thanks rick blaine - that all makes sense and confirms my limited experience. I don't think paced breathing is a solution for me! The night before last, which I posted about, I had the training app set to run maximum length. I am harboring the belief that the clusters after I fell asleep were the re...

Re: CPAP for colonoscopy, or is oxygen sufficient?
I cannot speak on the procedure or equipment involved, but my recent unplanned visit in the hospital I was denied a request for a PAP machine because I am self prescribed. The staff informed me they will track my O2 and if needed they will put me on oxygen. I asked the very same question, "How is ox...

Re: Updating profile information
This page here has a link to download Sleepyhead along with instructions and set up info: https://sleep.tnet.com/resources/sleepyhead It looks like you have at least some equipment info updated? Sometimes it appears some machines will not show up as text links so I just went to the same place (user ...

Re: Errant readings, breath control, cardiac stuff, etc
Thanks Robysue - the exercises were more designed to take deeper breaths more than slow them down but the deep inhalation and exhalation led to a much slower than normal breathing. When I am sleeping I usually get around 15 breaths per minute. When I finally got a pattern for the exercise that felt ...

Errant readings, breath control, cardiac stuff, etc
Greetings all - Things have been topsy turvy these days and I have not been around much but I am wondering if the charts below can be attributed to some errant machine readings for some reason or just a loose nut strapped to the mask. I have seen short periods of wave-forms resembling these but neve...

Re: CPAP newbie
Congratulations on the weight loss! I have heard it said that xPAP therapy can help with weight loss also. Your machine is a solid choice and should serve you well. Do not get discouraged if your face mask turns out to not be the perfect fit because some people spend years trying to find the magic c...

Re: Mask Leaks
In my (soon to be changed) profile picture I am wearing a hacked up mask that came with a used CPAP machine but it was too large for me and kept riding up my nose to blow in my eyes. I removed the over-head strap from my camping headlamp and used it to add a chin strap to the mask. Obviously not eno...

Re: SleepyHead Question
When I was using the standard SD card and forgot to turn off the write protection my machines would pop up a card read error or something like that. Even if I remembered to turn off write protection I sometimes had to remove it and turn the switch on and off again. I since changed to a Flashair/Flas...

Re: Hose condensation.
Depending on how much you want to spend there are aftermarket kits to add heated hose to a machine not already equipped and some people have developed DIY approaches using various heater elements such as reptile cage heaters plus the suggestions already offered here for hose covers. In my case I wen...

Re: 3 months in, question about alcohol effects on CPAP
My xPAP history makes it easy to track my response to alcohol indulgence because it coincides with $5 pitchers and free pizza night at the nearest pub. On drink nights my AHI is lower than usual but I almost always wake up at 3.5 to 4 hours of sleep then have trouble falling back to sleep. I can onl...

Re: Good cheap home sleep study?
I never had a sleep study due to finances so I bought a used machine and figured out enough on my own, but if I had known about this company and that it can both be done by mail and for such a reasonable price I probably would have skipped a few meals to make it happen: http://axgsleepdiagnostics.co...

Re: Suggest a mask based on this issue with the mirage quatro
I'm able to make the mirage quattro work with the forehead adjustment smashed all the way down... I must have a weird shaped face. Other than the nose piece occasionally leaking into my eyes, especially when my face gets oily I really like this mask... also it's a large and if it were any bigger it...

Re: POLL - Who has an old Legacy as back-up?
I have two Legacy machines which I got basically for free. One of them is my primary hose & mask drying system and and it also works well for dialing in mask fit problems without racking up time on the good machine. The other legacy is the backup for the same purpose. They have other uses also of wh...

Re: FlashPAP Java Wireless WiFi SDCard Transfer - Win/Mac/Linux
On my w7 computer and PRS1 machine I finally found the FlashPAP / Flashair / Sleepyhead combination to be the perfect solution for me. By Flashair I mean just the Flashair card, I found the Flashair software not to be worth the time to install (at least not for the purpose of configuring the card). ...

Re: Mask Hell: Harness Causes Baldy Headaches
Have you got Sleepyhead setup yet? Maybe you can see if it is possible to dial back that pressure, at least at first, and still get some effective therapy. Those are some seriously high pressure settings to have to deal with! Good suggestion regarding the pressure. I do have SleepyHead working and ...
