Re: Newly diagnosed 6 year old

My 6 year old received the results of her sleep test today and was given the diagnosis of mild/moderate obstructive sleep apnea. We were given so much information and I'm not sure what is the best choice for our family in terms of treatment. I was hoping someone with a similar treatment plan could ...

Re: Going to be needing knee surgery soon... might lose my CPAP

Ok so I heard from the insurance company today and also saw my sleep doctor. The sleep doctor mentioned that my insurance company still checks compliance to approve supplies and if I do have any issues getting supplies after I get home to just call his office and he will help sort it out. The insur...

Re: Just got diagnosed

Hello. I am a 38 year old woman and I just got diagnosed with moderate sleep apnea (25 apneas/hour). As odd as it sounds, it felt like a relief to finally have an explanation of why I am always so tired and haven't felt as mentally sharp as I used to. My doctor gave me my entire sleep study results...

Re: Going to be needing knee surgery soon... might lose my CPAP

The thing is they will know about the hospital stay because they will be paying for it lol They will never see a short lapse in compliance given how liberal the compliance requirements are. use of PAP devices for 4 or more hours per night on 70% of nights Yeah if I am only in the hospital for coupl...

Re: Going to be needing knee surgery soon... might lose my CPAP

Ok I shot an email to a service manager at my insurance company (this way I have something in writing so it is not "well I think someone said...." also dealing calling the insurance is a pain in the ass). As far as written instructions go, I will try but I am not sure how to articulate it for someon...

Re: Going to be needing knee surgery soon... might lose my CPAP

Just use your machine, don't ask. I doubt anyone will tell you that you can't use it. But how bout telling what your compliance is like now? How many hours a day? Who is your insurance? How long do you think you will be in the hospital? If you are adjusted to the cpap you will sleep (and heal) much...

Re: Going to be needing knee surgery soon... might lose my CPAP

I am concerned that insurance might stop paying for my CPAP if I get admitted for a few days and the hospital won't let me use my own machine there. Most insurance companies follow the Medicare rules, which are: Objective evidence of adherence to use (defined as use of PAP devices for 4 or more hou...

Going to be needing knee surgery soon... might lose my CPAP

Hi all, it has been a while. So it seems I dislocated my knee cap (long story short on that: be careful getting out of the shower kids ) and will need surgery to fix it. I am concerned that insurance might stop paying for my CPAP if I get admitted for a few days and the hospital won't let me use my ...

Re: I think my Climateline Air heated tube is turning off

I have use a hose cozy on my heated hose in the past. All it will do is keep the air warmer so the heating coils don't have to work so hard to keep it at whatever temp you set it at. One of the reasons I don't use the hose cozy more is that I find the added weight on the long hose a bit annoying. N...

Re: I think my Climateline Air heated tube is turning off

Trying to tell if the heated hose is working by touching the outside of the house isn't a reliable way to gauge temperature/heat because it is going to always feel a bit cool to the touch because it is cooler than our own body temp. It's been turning cooler at night and if you have the windows open...

Re: I think my Climateline Air heated tube is turning off

What temperature is your hose set to? What is the humidity set to? What is the ambient temperature in your house? My hose temp is 86f Humidity is at 7 And no clue what my ambient house temperature is at night but when I turn my computer on in the morning the temperature sensor on the case says abou...

Staring to have acne around where my mask sits

So I have been on CPAP for over a month now and it gets rather hot here and I wake up with sweat around where my mask sits and I think it is causing to have acne break outs where my mask sits. Any suggestions on how to deal with that?
