Re: Any Tips/Tricks/Recommendations

It's not life or death but I really find using aromatherapy makes the whole sleep therapy so much more enjoyable. They have tons of different scents and you put a drop or two on a round cotton disk or a cotton ball and put it near the air intake.

Re: New in town

I also bought out of pocket and I highly recommend secondwindcpap.com for good prices on machines. I bought two gently used machines from them. Both had less than 4 hours on them and were very discounted. They have great customer service and I've had nothing but good experiences with them.

Re: Help ! Do I have very bad sleep apnea ? 49% Sp02

I've ordered twice from secondwindcpap.com and both time had great transactions. I bought two DeVilbiss from them (one for me and one for my husband) and I LOVE my machine. It's insanely quiet, easy to use, data capable, and the price is good if you are paying out of pocket. Waiting that long to get...

Re: Help ! Do I have very bad sleep apnea ? 49% Sp02

HC can answer your oximeter questions, but as to the air pressure, etc... your awareness of air being blown in at all will fade quickly, both for each night (often within a few minutes) and long term to the point where many wake up and think the machine's broken! There's nothing uncomfortable about...

Re: Home Titration

I have severe sleep apnea and didn't even do a titration. They gave me an apap prescription and sent me on my way. I guess it's working because my AHI are typically below 1 now. Are titrations even necessary if it's not a complicated case? Yes, no, maybe...... Typically and historically, a "titrati...

Re: Best way to keep nose moist?

I rotate between aquafor with a qtip just around the inside of the nose, Ayr, or some special nose moisturizer I bought. If it's too moist my nasal pillows don't sit right so I don't over do it.

Re: One year on with CPAP - lessons learned

After only a few weeks on CPAP, I had these changes: No longer needed to go to the bathroom at night (that happened on the first night). Libido started coming back after three days. Much more positive mood, and less grumpy. More energy. More confidence. I'm still fighting with the darn hose at nigh...

Re: Renewed energy!

I started in the middle of july and like you my energy levels are off the charts. I didn't even realize how sluggish I was feeling! I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow and I can't wait to tell her how fantastic this all is!

Re: New To A Machine

I find wearing the mask awake was definitely the best way to get used to it. I'm glad it was suggested to me here because I would have never thought about it. I put it on and read or play games on my phone and then fall asleep. I also REALLY enjoy the aromatherapy by the intake filter. It really mak...

Re: Especially for newly diagnosed - Dealing with Change

I was diagnosed in early July and I'm going on almost a month with apap. I resisted getting tested for so long because I didn't want to deal with the machine. It's a hard thing to accept. Once I realized my health WAS being affected and it's not just a little snoring or sleepiness I changed my attit...

Re: Connecting sleep apnea with other's deaths.

And you know what? Something is eventually going to get all of us at sometime! In our sleep (if we're lucky) or out of it. There is so much speculation here (not this thread, but the forum and beyond) and none of it is likely to make much difference... I wouldn't be too concerned about strangers un...

Finally getting DH on board!

My DH has seen the change in me since I started apap therapy last month that he's finally on board with switching out his old cpap for a data capable one. I'm so thrilled! He's been on cpap for about 8 years and still rarely wears it at night, never feels rested, and has no idea what's going on beca...

Re: Nasal Spray and Pain

The problem with the OTC spray, according to the doctor that prescribed Flonase (sp?) for me (expensive at the time), is that they help in the beginning and make the problem worse over time. There is NO problem using saline only nasal spray. Are you new to cpap? Many of us, including myself had ter...
