Re: Breathing Not Detceted - all night

Problem solved.

The filter was absolutely clogged with dust.

Thanks for the help anyway :)

Breathing Not Detceted - all night

I had been getting on well with my new machine, a Respironics DreamStation Auto CPAP and ResMed Airfit F20 mask. A lot of nights the AHI was below five and leaks were way better controlled. However, recently OSCAR has been reporting masses of Breathing Not Detected events, consistently every night. ...

Re: EPAP increased - OSCAR screenshot

Interesting point about the big rise in events in the early morning. Despite the event-raddled last bit of sleep, I seem to benefit from sleeping in late and have more energy during the day. I guess even a couple of hours' extra sleep that is peppered with events is beneficial to a degree. The care ...

EPAP increased - OSCAR screenshot

screenshot-20210731-101359.png My area's sleep clinic has now been expanded, with more staff, and moved to a hospital on my doorstep. That's the good news. Not so good is that delays over my promised ASV machine go on. So for now I am trying to make the best of the existing one. EPAP was raised fro...

Fixing leaks>reduce pressure?

Eerly trail of a new mask (ResMed Mirage FX) have massively reduced leaks.

I am wondering whether the pressure needs to be reduced accordingly or is my machine (Respironics BiPAP S/T C Series) not supposed to adapt to this, within the parameters of the IPAP and EPAP settings?

Sinusitis/nasal blocking

For some reason, I rather randomly doubt my nose blocked. I tried inhaling Olbas vapour from a stick, and blowing, but to no avail. It just would not clear. As a result I had to mouth breath and removed my chin strap, which led to a significantly worse night's sleep. Any suggestions for dealing with...

These are last night's stats. I don't understand how the leak rate could be so much lower but the AHI goes up. What is going on?

Not that you mean to sound at all patronising ;)

Here is the first night with the Mirage FX:

Question re: first night with ResMed Mirage FX mask

I tried the Mirage FX nasal mask last night. First impressions were good - it was comfortable and I liked the look and feel of it. However, OSCAR showed an AHI of 12.0 and time in a large leak at 28.8%, which was a big surprise as, subjectively, it did not seem to be obviously leaking. I will try ag...

Chin strap blocking mouth

Should I be concerned about my chin strap sliding around my chin in my sleep and totally blocking my mouth? I feel I need the strap as on the odd nights without it I seem to get even worse sleep. I get nightmares sometimes before waking with it over my mouth, where I am squashed or confined in some ...

Re: Feeling hot at night

I have not talked to a doctor about it yet. As for premenopausal, I am a guy :) Being winter here I wonder whether ambient temperature is a factor but I will experiment with cooler nightwear. I am in bdenzo wothdr\awal so wonder whether that is part of it. Sorry to read, your going through Benzo wi...

Update and OSCAR screenshot

I am now able to use OSCAR with my machine and am posting a screenshot of a recent night below. I would be grateful for any feedback. Being able to use OSCAR is one of the things that has moved on. Another (hopefully) is that the wheels are slowly turning towards my getting an ASV machine. I am also...

Re: Feeling hot at night

I think you are right. It is probably not benzos per se. Although they are worsening overall fatigue so may be an indirect cause. Thanks Pugsy for the link. I can tick most of those boxes. Advice for anyone reading: if a doctor offers you benzos (Valium, Xanax, Klonopin etc): be aware of their highl...
