Re: OSA and Depression

Yes, crushing depression which improved with CPap. However you should also have your Vitamin D3 checked, because if that is very low it will contribute to the depression. My MD has me take 1000 mg daily, but I am seeing in some new research.that it might not be enough.

Wow! Just read through this whole thread to see how you are progressing. Great news. You have come a long way, and it's good to know you are sticking with it. Best of luck in your cpap journey.

Re: They Tell Me I Need This Machine

I feel your pain, really I do. One of my friends who has SA told me she would rather die than use her machine. Unfortunately she has given up, and will probably die. I was certainly on my way out before CPap, undiagnosed for a long time with many life threatening conditions. Don't give up! You have ...

[
"For me, when I found out why I was so darned tired all the time, I embraced the diagnosis and the therapy. I've never regretted it and am thankful for this therapy. I'm one of those who has had suspicions that I've had it most of my life." Well said, I feel the same. Thank God for the CPap...

Re: just diagnosed

Hang in there. You have made progress just by joining this group. People are very helpful and they want to see you succeed. You will find stuff here that doctors, technicians and DMEs don't tell you. Once you work out the kinks and get the right mask, you will never want to be without your CPap mach...

Re: Constipation and CPAP?

I made two changes which has solved this completely. A cup of hot water with lemon first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. A cup of tumeric tea last thing at night. Amazon sells the tumeric tea, it's called Three Roots ( tumeric, ginger and licorice). No more problems.

Re: Increased Water Use

Noticed this as well. The doctor had me increase the humidifier from 4.5 to 5 because I was waking up with a headache, no headache but increased water use. I don't enjoy the 5 setting I am thinking of going back to 4.5. We keep our a/c on 76 degrees because my husband hates sleeping in a/c. However ...

Re: how to purchase new auto cpap without Rx on cpap.com?

CPap.com will accept a script from your regular doctor. Write to them they will send you a form to get your regular GP to complete, and keep it on file.

Re: Nasal Pillows

Pugsy, you are a treasure. That is great information about the headgear. I found it out by accident, but having stretched head gear is a real downer and can really set your treatment back. In my case I had serious jaw pain caused by my head gear being stretched.

Re: Just got SleepyHead!

When I consider how I used to be compared to how I am 10 months later, if I have to use a CPap for the rest of my life, then I have to use it. No going back now.

Just got SleepyHead!

When I joined this forum as a recently diagnosed user, I said I wanted to do 3 things 1) learn all I could about sleep apnea 2) start a sleep apnea support group 3) eventually stop using a CPap machine eg recover Someone pointed out that #3 might be wishful thinking. Be that as it may, I am making p...

Re: How long till you started noticing a difference?
The biggest improvemnt has been in my mindset. I now realise that depression (and its related symptoms) had been a regular part of my life for quite a while. This is no longer an issue. Obviously there is no straightforward answer to this, but I find people's comments helpful. We will improve...

Re: Jaw pain caused by poor mask fit?

Just to say I got my replacement head gear, filters and new pillows. Haven't had any jaw pain or ear pain since. I cant believe how stretched my head gear was after 10 months! Now I am sleeping much better. Obviously I have to figure out a replacement schedule for these things. Sad to say nobody poi...
