Re: Where to find research on UARS?
Here's an article about UARS literature: Treatment of upper airway resistance syndrome in adults: Where do we stand? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4608900/ That link and related matter is in and scattered here: http://www.apneaboard.com/forums/Thread-AHI-1-0-now-but-still-tired-Is-it-...

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
Regarding missing traces indicated by longer arrows. The "pressure breath" instance would seem to suggest a limit level for resolution. The right-most long arrow another such possible indicator. Trouble is the middle arrow is missing with a definite dip in the pressure curve. More than meets the eye...

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
TVblip2slotMASKpDrop.GIF This image adds little, but shows stacking and unstacking balancing over time. Uppermost the peak negative flow of expirations are shown. Too many generations of copies blur the image and, particularly the note stating grid lines are spaced 0.2 L, short arrows point to bare...

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
I prefer to go on trying to explore, trying to make sense of and trying to illuminate flow limitation with such light as I think I have found to share. Do that whether or not I, an openly bumbling novice ("humble brag", he hates says Morbius) may ignorantly and unintentionally delude myself and othe...

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
CORRECTION! After revisting data and after benefitting from geer1's valuable corrective commentary--yes that "geer1" listed on PR's recommendations of foes--I must and do correct essentials of my previous post. Please accept my apology for that grossly incorrect post. Why did I blunder? Two factors...

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
Obviously not. Your last swing was a high and long trajectory foul hit, not a ball. Got a big piece of the ball landing in the stands just past the pole.

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
This post swerves slightly off topic by looking at a different flow limitation, a kind of expiratory flow limitation, those caused by palatal prolapse (PP). In deference to Morbius, who will likely find or artfully invent ways to take exception, even if it is "only" a typo or a misspelling, I may pr...

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
the tidal volume average we see, as calculated by OSCAR..... [emphasis added] Just a quick point of clarification for me: Is the tidal volume (in the Tidal volume vs. Time of day graph) that we see in OSCAR, calculated by the OSCAR software or does OSCAR simply present Resmed's calculation of tidal...

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
Unchanged, like precious and innocent Morbius is unchanged, it's good to be back at CT after meeting a deadline--these 14 days, without authoritative response, after my question for the benefit of Resmed PAP device users. Where's the great, exacting, clinician, teacher with his with-it shorthand? Wa...

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
Pugsy, Morbius, any other knowledgeable member: Relative to the linked NIH table below: Please, does any one of you have additional specific information about Resmed S10 Autoset detections of and responses to flow limitation at all levels? As a Resmed-only user, it was good to see Pugsy and Morbius'...

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
. . .. Cause if I understand you correctly (although reread above) in the area where you identify conflict duty cycle actually remains constant, and all you got is a guy breathing slowly and deeply, as you might find in SWS. Yes, for many with UARS and such, "breathing slowly and deeply between aro...

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
[ Cause it looks to me like the little stutter prior to inhalation is contaminating true I-time. Did not notice that. A good eye and fair point, seeing the cursor is on a cardio peak. Fortunately, the view shows much wider divergence later driving I/E higher so my main point there survives overall. ...

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
Back again with busy images and opaque writing. My intent is to have helpful annotations on my graphics to reduce need to look at the forum message box. I've never polled for preferences, seen or heard them, but I find doing this work is easier and more accurate that way. Note: this stuff I post is ...

Re: Tidal volume and Flow limitations
So duty cycle. Yes it's accurate, but does it tell us something that we already know, or can find in other places? Does it help identify events? Does it aid in treatment? More importantly, does it have an application in self-monitor/treat? Or is it a solution looking for a problem? Bring on the Dut...
