Re: Dating after divorce & CPAP

Palerider - I know, wearing CPAP isn't quite as shocking and dramatic or even entertaining. At least CPAP doesn't wreck your waking hours whereas serial killing will wreck your days and nights! Pugsy - OK, plain ole honesty it is. But you'll have to let me know the dating services to help find someo...

Dating after divorce & CPAP

Warriors of the night, I'm ~9 months intoo CPAP (Resmed AirSense 10 + FFM) and have been compliant until recently. Going through divorce, starting to think about dating, lots of bronchitis and allergies over the winter, and I'm thinking about all of this CPAP stuff. I'm getting better sleep but the ...

Re: Machine went wild, didn't sleep much last night

Thanks everyone for the insights and suggestions. I'm heading down to the DME tomorrow. I've checked everything, and slept a scant 5 hours last night. Found the mask on the floor in the AM, which is a 1st for me. So, something's up. I like the idea of going to straight CPAP at 95% pressure. Last vis...

Machine went wild, didn't sleep much last night

I'm 1 1/2 months into APAP, and last night my machine went wild. I always have pressure relief turned on, but it suddenly started to blow at a constant high pressure. I woke up. I couldn't get the machine to stop doing that after roughly 15-20 minutes. So I unplugged the hose. Put the damn thing bac...

Re: Especially for newly diagnosed - Dealing with Change

Thank you for this honest, inspiring, and heartfelt writing that is helping me to work through my OSA diagnosis. You are a talented healer. Like many of the members who responded, I'm new to CPAP and the early days of CPAP can be dark times.

Do you switch between masks?

Fellow Night Warriors, New to CPAP, I am. Maybe 3 weeks under my belt. But now, I'm getting red spots from chaffing on the bridge of my nose & around the sides of my nose from my FFM. I haven't been able to use a nasal mask w/chinstrap because the chinstrap is like a giant rubber band & I really can...

Re: APAP forcing me to breathe more than I want

Pugsy and Chunky Frog, OK, then I'll go with the sirens until they become background noise and the illusion of "all this breathing" that I don't want to do at night. When I was PG with my kids, I recall deliberately slowing down my breathing to starve my brain of O2 and force myself to go to sleep! ...

Re: Nose clogs up when laying down, and other times too

I'm in the same boat: my nose is like a leaky faucet, the allergist RX'd ipatroprium bromide (saying that bad allergies can still break through all the other meds), but when I lie down my nose acts up as if I wasn't all tanked out on meds. Nasal saline rinse is great. Nasacort or any other steroid s...

Re: APAP forcing me to breathe more than I want

Chunky Frog, It's the swarm of Asian beetles over here. I'm persistent in general & will see if I can tweak the language settings on this forum. Not immediately apparent...but what in this OSA journey has been easy, right? I might have to learn Japanese soon! Pugsy, Thanks for the perspective on ASV...

Re: APAP forcing me to breathe more than I want

RogerSC, I wish I had the time and wherewithal to post under so many aliases =) The board automatically assigns a gazillion aliases if I'm not fully registered. I finally registered Night Warrior and my snafus include typing so fast that I mis-spelled my alias name the 1st time round. Now, everythin...
