Maintenance
Curious on all of your opinions regarding maintenance. My DME stated that the humidifier water replaced every day/container washed once a week, filter washed once a week/replaced once a month, hose washed once a week, mask washed daily. Seems a little excessive to me but I'm completely willing to do...

Re: The results are in - Finally
Well, there are two levels of settings... one everyone gets to see and use, the other supposedly for 'clinicians', which theoretically we're not supposed to look at, but in fac† which we all do and use to tweak pressures, etc. Some dealers and docs make a big fuss about 'locking' us out of those, o...

Re: The results are in - Finally
Picked up my ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset. The DME suggested the DreamWear mask for stomach sleeping (although he had no idea what the falcon position was) so I will give that a try. Anyone curious about the process, I had to pay the machine and mask outright (1800+160) and once I receive the follow u...

Re: The results are in - Finally
After what was supposed to be a 2-3 week wait turned into 6 weeks because I did my test during "vacation season" the doc calls me in to give me my results. Moderate with an AHI of 18. At this point, I'm so exhausted I fall asleep in the waiting room. However, as it turns out, they did not book enou...

Re: Re:
From when I was 18 to about 35 all I ever heard from doctors was when was I going to let them take out my tonsils. From 35 to now, I'm 51, I have not been sick in the way tonsils would effect me again. So think long and hard, it is surgery. What an utterly useless reply. You didn't even specify whe...

Re: The results are in - Finally
Get a copy of your test results - yours by law - then let us know what it said and we'll see what, if anything, needs advice. Interprovincial stuff can drive you crazy for sure! true in theory but they still wont give me mine i guess i could sue them to get it but is it worth the trouble and expens...

Re: The results are in - Finally
Honestly I get that it doesn't quite work this way in Canada, but I ended up threatening my insurance company with a class action law suit before they finally gave me the machine. THey claimed they couldn't do it until they saw my interview papers. I told them they were risking life and limb for a ...

Re: The results are in - Finally
I'm glad you got your results, but disappointed you still have to wait. You've gotten some very good advice so far. Get your machine and then use the people here to help you fine tune it. Hopefully they set the machine properly for you, but I wouldn't bank on it. The people here can help you get in...

Re: The results are in - Finally
They did not give me a hardcopy. I wanted to ask them for it but completely forgot once I was there. Brain fart. It is very easy to forget what you were going to ask when you see a doctor etc.. It is wise to always to create a question list and take it with you. Not only do you not forget the quest...

Get a copy of your test results - yours by law - then let us know what it said and we'll see what, if anything, needs advice. Interprovincial stuff can drive you crazy for sure! Will do! Re: The results are in - Finally
Wow, what a difference a province makes. Ontario has set prices for machines (APAP $1,020) and they pay 75% of the cost. With our supplementary health benefits - my cost ...... nothing. Are your prices similar? Alberta they are closer to $2k. That's interesting your doctor only prescribes APAP. My ...

Re: The results are in - Finally
Did they say if you are getting a CPAP or APAP? Did they give you a hard copy of your sleep study? Did they say what your oxygen desaturation was? Did you get REM sleep? How much sleep in total? Are they renting (For free, although I expect OHIP pays) or are they selling you the unit? I'm curious a...
