Re: getting off CPAP

J - Some docs including mine have advised their patients to sleep several nights without the CPAP before having a sleep study. It's a highly debatable recommendation and many here vehemently disagree with the recommendation. It's based on the idea that there's some 'holdover' benefit with CPAP such...

Re: getting off CPAP

And consider that the lost weight was quite possibly gained orig. as a result of apnea, not the other way around. Possibly some even though in hindsight I have had apnea for prob close to 15 years and was stubborn. Most of my weight gain came from in activity and depression/stress eating when I was...

Re: getting off CPAP

Hey guys, so over the last 5 months I have dropped 45 pounds, started working out, running and mountain biking again. I'm in the best shape of the last decade or so for me. The other day I fell asleep with out my CPAP for the first time since I got it about this time last year. I slept for 6 hours ...

Re: Heat symbol vs. Cool symbol on resmed AirSense10

pretty sure on mine that the "heat" symbol means the humidifier is running and the "snowflake" means the fan is running after shutdown to dry the hose/mask. I believe it runs for 30minutes.

Re: No CPAP related but def sleep related question

I use an old style waterbed. That said, I did have hip pain several years ago. I had the bed long before then, and still do. The pain was not caused or helped by the type of bed. The hip pain got worse over a few months, and was especially bad at night. It would wake me up if I tried to roll over o...

Re: No CPAP related but def sleep related question

How on earth is what anyone of us are 'liking' going to help you? Even if you had the med. histories of everyone who answers = and we had yours (tho' we're not docs), it still wouldn't necessarily tell you what would be a good fit for you. Thanks for the help. Lol. Sounds like you either need a sni...

No CPAP related but def sleep related question

I need a new mattress as I'm having issues with one of my hips. Finally got my Apnea under control, lost a bunch of weight and my RA is good but not my bad hip is killing me and effecting my sleep.

What bed/mattresses are you guys liking?

Thanks in advance

Re: First time flying with CPAP

I put my cpap in its carrying case, which has a med equipment "luggage" tag on it and then the case goes in the backpack that I use as carry on. It only comes out to go through TSA. Never had an issue from domestic to international to big jets down to cessna caravans.

Re: How Long Did it Take?

How long did it take you to start sleeping all the way through the night with your machine? I've had my C-pap for about 2 weeks, and I have yet to sleep through the night. Often I only use it for 2-4 hours because after I get up to use the restroom I don't want to fumble with it to get it back on, ...

try distilled water if you are getting to much scale, not much in distilled water that will cause scaling. what's in distilled water that causes scale? haven't cleaned my humidifier tank in about 6 months and only use distilled water, no scale or deposits? Like others have said use vinegar to cut the scale, cheaper and easier to keep/use.
