Re: Flossing my teeth suddenly painful.

After about 5 days, my gum pain has diminished. I don't know what it was. The only things I changed in my daily routine were that I rinsed more often with ACT Dry Mouth Mouthwash, used a Xylimelt one night, and was very careful in flossing (to be gentle). I am hoping that is was some passing inflamm...

Re: Flossing my teeth suddenly painful.

Yes, I will certainly do this if it persists but I was just at the dentist for cleaning and exam not 2 weeks ago , and he didn't say anything about my gums except to marvel at the fact I had no periodontal disease. Of course, I was not in any pain 2 weeks ago. Does that fact that it is painful in my...

Flossing my teeth suddenly painful.

I knew things were going too smoothly. I have been using APAP for 6 months with success and very little in the way of problems . My AHI is low, my leaks are 0%, don't have dry mouth or any discomfort and use my device for about 7 hours per night. Two days ago, I notice when flossing that my gums wer...

Re: The Relationship of EPR and Central Apneas

"While I don't normally have aerophagia issues I have had a couple of occasions to experience it and it was so bad I was physically ill all day. It was miserable. Given a choice between feeling like that all day and letting a handful of hyponeas slip past the defenses I would gladly let the hyponeas...

Re: The Relationship of EPR and Central Apneas

I think I will try turning it to 1. Should I simultaneously do anything with my 7-11 pressure settings? ( "jnk" (above) suggest raising the pressure slightly. ) No, I would only change one thing at a time. Are you thinking the reduction during exhale is going to automatically be sub optimal and you...

Re: The Relationship of EPR and Central Apneas

Some of us have found that we need to raise our pressure, or our minimum, when we engage EPR, since ResMed's form of that comfort feature can have a more powerful effect on our therapy than some other forms from other brands. It isn't always a matter of understanding completely why something works....

Re: The Relationship of EPR and Central Apneas

People often think that the respiratory drive is triggered by oxygen levels in the blood stream...that when the oxygen levels drop the brain sends the signal to breathe. That's not the case though. It's the carbon dioxide levels in the blood that the brain watches and it's when the carbon dioxide l...

The Relationship of EPR and Central Apneas

Does anyone know why Central apneas increase when EPR is on, and decrease when EPR is off? I recently turned my EPR on to #2 to try to relieve some aerophagia that was bothering me (until recently I thought it was diet related but isn't). That setting did seem to help, but my centrals increase and r...

Re: Idiopathic Hypersomnia

How many of hours a night do you sleep? How would you characterize the quality of your sleep? How do you do with following all of the principles of good "sleep hygiene"? Have you tried raising your minimum to stabilize your airway beyond eliminating apneas and hypopneas? Have you tried using a sing...

Re: Idiopathic Hypersomnia

My 6 month APAP anniversary is tomorrow and the therapy has successfully decreased my AHI from 30 to 1.2 (ave of last 3 months). I am totally compliant and wouldn't even think of going to bed without my mask and machine. But my daytime sleepiness and fatigue and not abated much, and I have had work...

Re: Idiopathic Hypersomnia

I took Welbutrin for several years. It did nothing to treat sleepiness, getting solid treatment with a CPAP solved the sleepiness. After a couple of years. Welbutrin started making me very short tempered and crabby. It did help me get over smoking though. LOL...I'm short tempered and crabby now!! S...

Re: Idiopathic Hypersomnia

I did notice that even though I was using the machine and felt much better, I was still tired. For a while I was taking Modafinil. It didn't do very much for me, so I discontinued. After many years, I gradually stopped feeling so tired. Do you have any idea why you recovered after such a long time?...

Re: Idiopathic Hypersomnia

What other efforts have already been made to identify other possible contributors to your symptoms alongside sleep apnea? I'm thinking of deficiencies of things like Vitamin D, Iron, B12 etc. And medical conditions including thyroid dysfunction, diabetes, mood disorders etc. Also medication side ef...

Re: F20 airtouch memory foam leak rate issue

I use this mask successfully. In your case of this high of leaks, maybe the cushion is too large (try next size down) or the straps just need tightened. They caution you about tightening too much, but I find you have to in order to stop the leaks. Good luck.
