Re: Is a doctor's prescription needed for an APAP machine in Ontario?
Ontario is one province that regulates the pricing of CPAP/APAP thru their ADP program....this is very good for those in Ontario, not so much for those outside Ontario. Cpapmachines.ca doesn't require a prescription (see their FAQ). They are in Ontario. Their pricing isn't ADP approved however....th...

Re: Total Newbie - What to buy?
One of the most popular and most recommended devices is the Resmed Airsense 10 AutoSet for Her. Don't let the For Her, dissuade you, even if you're male. It is identical in functionality to the Resmed Airsense 10 AutoSet but has an extra optional mode designed for women. I'm a him, and use the For ...

Re: Does CPAP cause Vestibular Disorders?
I have had BPPV before my OSA was diagnosed. When I first started using an APAP(Feb 2018), it triggered dizziness/balance issues. It took a while to dissipate. Balance issues were triggered again when my sleep technician tried to increase my pressure range from 10-15 to 12-17cmH2O. I lowered the pre...

Re: Any smartwatches that RECORD heart rate all night?
What about the monitors that are in a chest strap? They communicate to your smartphone via Blue Tooth. I have a grandson who uses one for running and gym work. I know he likes it. He said it is more accurate than wrist-worn models. If you are interested, I can find out what model. Also, via ANT+. I...

Re: New CPAP purchase advise
I got it. It had 2800 hours, no smoke or animal smell. I'm really happy I found one and didnt cost too much. Does anyone have any ideas of initial settings i should use? My current cpap is a single pressure ResMed Elite that I had set on 11. Factory settings are 4-20. Most people are not happy with...

Amazfit Bip has an option to display/track your heart rate as often as every minute. You will need the Mi app to check the history.

Re: Which backup machine would you buy?
Medistrom Pilot Plus 24 (now reportedly discontinued) is a battery backup for Airsense 10, Airmini, Dreamstation Go etc. Replaced by their "Lite" version. David Thanks for the info! Did some research and this is the cable pack needed if it helps anyone: http://medistrom.com/products-pilot24-lite-lu...

Re: New CPAP purchase advise
If you are satisfied with Resmed's algorthim, I recommend the Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset for Her...this model has an extra mode vs the regular Autoset model....should be the same price. If not, get the Philips Respironics Dreamstation Auto....it has a different algorthim than Resmed. Based on the po...

Re: Which backup machine would you buy?
If price isn't an issue, I think a travel machine makes a good backup since it's also helpful when traveling. Of course they're harder to find used and not covered by insurance so quite a bit more expensive than picking up a lightly used normal machine. Personally I bought a Dreamstation Go Auto si...

Re: Full-time battery backup
Although pricey, I am using a Medistrom Pilot Plus 24 and Co-Pilot as my full time battery backup on an Airsense 10 Autoset.

U$653 seems expensive for a Dreamstation Auto. That is the price here in Canada but in Canadian dollars. Check Amazon?

Re: When To Consider a New Machine
If you don't have a backup and you have to use a CPAP device every night (and have the financial means through insurance or self funded), then I recommend that you get a new APAP device. Your existing one becomes your backup. Based on others here, the current Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset has the same ...

Re: Necessary to have a backup machine?
I wasn’t even thinking of getting a spare because my machine is new and my condition is hardly bad. What prompted me to look at a unit was because of the super cheap unit on our local classified that caught my attention. Got me thinking if it makes sense to get one even though I don’t need one yet....

Re: Necessary to have a backup machine?
Most work insurance companies up in my neck of the woods replace CPAP machines every 5 years. Have any of the long term users here experienced a CPAP failure that put your machine out of commission? My machine is new but I do wonder if it makes sense for me to buy a lightly used one from Craigslist...
