Re: Do you ever have trouble pulling in air?
While being aware of some controversy here, most people have suggested a higher minimum pressure, and it seems sensible to do so. If I understand correctly, some have also suggested that a higher maximum might be more effective. I’m not sure how much maximum pressure is prudent , but I think I shou...

Re: How to get rid of centrals
How long have you been using a CPAP? I say that because it is not uncommon to see centrals increase for a while after starting treatment, and then in about 75% of those that have the issue it reduces again by 6-8 weeks. Here is a bit of info about it from Fisher&Paykel. The True Prevalence of Centra...

Re: Travel with Resmed S9?
My wife travels with the S9 and without the humidifier. However if you do not get a smaller carrying case, you don't save much on space, only weight. Yes, there is a smaller AC power supply that is lighter and only provides 30 watts for use without the humidifier. See this link: ResMed S9 30 Watt Po...

Re: Full Face Mask Recommendation - Mirage Quattro or ??
Its all about personal fit and feel. I started with a Quattro which fit so well I hardly even needed straps. However, it felt heavy and large, so I tried the Quattro Air, which is smaller and lighter. Although it didn't fit quite as well, the overall feel was better, and I've been using the Air, wi...

Re: Prescribed range 5-12. Why a range?
After abandoning my cpap a year ago I’d like to restart but have forgotten my initial education by my provider. why is there a prescribed range 5-12 when 11 is my goal pressure? Should I use auto ramp if the range starts low and builds up? I would suggest you download SleepyHead so you can monitor ...

Re: Full Face Mask Recommendation - Mirage Quattro or ??
I tried my son's used Mirage Quattro last night, but it didn't go well. I got small but annoying leaks that kept me from going to sleep. There also seemed to be a cluster of events when the pressure went up. I gave up on it after an hour and a half or so. I used the ResMed instructions to adjust it....

Re: Any Recommendations to Improve Therapy
About the first time I have been stuck for making any recommended changes. You are quite well optimized based on the SleepyHead results. Can you say more about what makes you uncomfortable and wanting to take the mask off? If you are feeling short of air, I think you could increase your minimum pres...

Re: New to CPAP and Sleep Data Help
Respiratory Therapists adjust/manage CPAP settings up here. Once you get the prescription for the CPAP, they do all the rest. Our primary care doctor doesn't even give a range for pressures. I'm from Alberta too, and know what you are dealing with. You need to see a real doctor about the CSR issue,...

Re: New to CPAP and Sleep Data Help
Just print out a few of the screen shots, and take the SD card with you or a copy of the files from the SD card on a USB memory stick. But, you might want to check ahead of time to see if the doctor has the software to read the files. Sleep specialist probably will, but suspect a cardiologist may not.

Re: New to CPAP and Sleep Data Help
CSR is Cheyne-Stokes Respiration. Google it, check a credible medical link, and then decide how concerned you should be.

Re: Do you ever have trouble pulling in air?
There are two ways an APAP can help you with oxygen. First is with pressure. The higher you run the average pressure of treatment during the night, the more oxygen you will get. Higher pressure means more dense air. One standard atmospheric pressure is approximately 1033 cm H2O. A basic APAP delive...

Re: New to CPAP and Sleep Data Help
Yes, that is what I expected to see. You should also note that your machine has flagged 3 Cheyne-Stokes events. I would make some copies of the Cheyne-Stokes events, and the other events where there is a whole series of them, and take them to his doctor for discussion. I also have some events that l...

Re: CPAP and eyes
The usual culprit is dry eyes caused by mask leaks blowing into your eyes when you are sleeping. If you are asleep you may not know it is happening. I have a P10 nasal pillow which puts the mask a long way from my eyes, but I still get it sometimes. You may want to try different nasal masks to see w...
