Re: Battery during power outage- need recommendation
We always have a battery in our garage that becomes my back up battery in the event of a power outage. It might be a battery from our boat, maybe a trolling motor battery, might be a car battery. We keep them charged and I grab one when it's needed. I have the adapter that Pugsy lists above. I've us...

Re: nose sores from air (not pressure sores)?
I get this as well. I also use the Dreamware Nasal cushion. I am a side sleeper and it happens on the side that is against the pillow. I need to keep the humidity as high as it goes. If I start to feel sore, I use the Lansinoh. If it gets really sore, I use an antibiotic ointment during the day.

Re: EPR...Yes or No?
I currently use EPR 2, which is not as comfortable as 3. I get more events (not centrals) with 3. I think it drops my pressure too much when I exhale with it set on 3.

Re: Has your quality of life improved much after using CPAP machines?
Yes. I use to be so tired and crabby every morning. Once I got my treatment dialed in, via help from this forum, I sleep soundly all night.

Re: Humidity in nasal mask
Sorry about your move to someplace with a winter. I am close to Chicago and during the winter also get water, gurgling, even spraying out of my mask vent. I need my humidity and hose temp cranked to the highest. Pad a cheek makes a really nice, thick hose cover. It doesn't fit the entire hose right ...

Re: noise keeping my wife awake - AirSense 10 AutoSet
I received my new machine and noticed immediately that the humidifier chamber “clicks” into place on the new machine. The old machine did not do this. I was able to gently pull on the chamber and it would slide out. It never seemed to lock into place. While I can hear breathing when my pressure gets...

Re: Hose covers on heated hoses?
I have a hose cover from Pad A Cheek that’s really nice. It fit my Dreamstation hose perfect. I now have a Resmed machine and find that the cover isn’t long enough. I didn’t see one for that machine. What brand do you use for Resmed?

That is one of the genes that they test for.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 1:49 pmI do wonder if I have the BRCA gene, just for the benefit of my niece and her daughter.
Of course, BC can affect males as well, but no idea if it would then be related to the gene.

Re: 23 and Me Health Report/ OSA
It's pretty cool. It tells you if you carry certain genes that make you a greater risk of developing certain things or passing things onto your children. It also is able to tell you things like, your hair color and eye color. I had to laugh a little when I read the last updated report that said I ha...

23 and Me Health Report/ OSA
I did a 23 and me DNA & Health report a couple years ago. They just did an update that addresses OSA in my health report. It states I have an increased likelihood for Obstructive Sleep Apnea.

Re: Pap & sinus infections....
I use to get them several times a year. You need to see an ENT. I had a deviated septum and a turbinate reduction. My sinus now drain properly and I haven’t had a sinus infection since.

Re: noise keeping my wife awake - AirSense 10 AutoSet
I ended up calling CPAP.com, where I bought my machine. They listened to it over the phone. Did some trouble shooting, making sure filter was in place, humidifier connected correctly. They told me it should be whisper quiet and should not sound like it did. They said it sounded like it was leaking fr...

Re: noise keeping my wife awake - AirSense 10 AutoSet
I just started using this machine and do hear the breathing noise coming from where the filter is. It’s less noisy than my Dreamstation was. It helped me to turn that side away from the bed.

Re: How many nights to wait after a bloody nose?
I tend to nosebleeds; always have. I make sure to set my apap humidifier to maximum, and always sleep with a room humidifier going at its maximum setting. I also put a small amount of Lanisoh (brand name for a tube of lanolin) on my pinky fingers and rub it up into each nostril, from the opening to...
