Re: After 2 weeks of using CPAP - understanding SH results

It has now been about a month, and I've improved the leak rating considerably by getting the right fit of my mask (medium frame, with large cushion), but most importantly, the addition of the somnifix sleep strips that tape your mouth when you close, with a little vent in the middle to allow for air...

Re: Dreamwear: air out the top?

I too have the mask, and find it very comfortable but was experiencing a lot of leaks. I have tried all the different frames and cushion combos, but like the poster above, one way I am proved quite a bit was to make sure my mouth was closed during the night. A chin strap was too uncomfortable for me...

After 2 weeks of using CPAP - understanding SH results

It has now been about 2 weeks of using my CPAP machine. Thanks to this forum I have been able to tweak my settings and get some encouragement to keep going - but I have reached a point where I think I could use some help looking at my results in SleepyHead again, to see where I should be focusing. I...

Re: Newbie struggles..advice welcome

Newbie as well, and I highly recommend downloading and installing the sleepyhead software, so that you can look at your data each morning and make continuous small improvements to improve your therapy. I would have had to wait for weeks to get some analysis done, but the people on this board have a ...

Re: My First Night on the CPAP: impressions, challenges, and questions

Well, damn... No real improvement in my scores - and even worse leakage. I started to work my way up to the 9 /15 recommendation with changing it from 8 / 12 to 9 / 13.5. However, I think the advice was still correct/good, but the problem is maybe the way my mask is fitting. I even heard it escaping...

Re: My First Night on the CPAP: impressions, challenges, and questions

Thank you! Well, I got my first results downloaded from my machine using sleepyhead. While I feel pretty good (and my AHI seems to have dropped massively from 64 to 7.31, the report summary said it was "not very good" and that my mask is leaking way too much. Glad to know this now instead of having ...

Re: Just woke up from first night of use

As someone who just started as well (just woke up from my 2nd night), I turned my ramp off as well. 4 is too low of pressure for me anyway, and in order to better handle the range max, I find its better to get used to a higher min (8 / 12 in my case for now, until I can work my max higher). Personal...

Re: Day two of CPAP, need advice/support/cookies...

I completely understand where you are mentally. I'm 35 and not overweight - and weight has nothing to do with my apnea. I got my results a few weeks back, and ended up having severe OSA, with almost 500 events, with an AHI of 63 (I just double checked). I mean, that is so high, that I can't even bel...

Re: My First Night on the CPAP: impressions, challenges, and questions

Thank you all very much for your replies! Glad to know the leak sound was intentional, and that make sense why you need it. And I'll quit being so obsessive over the daily cleaning, as it sounds like a massive pain in the ass a good way to demotivate me in the beginning. Web/Baby wipes daily and a w...

My First Night on the CPAP: impressions, challenges, and questions

First off, I'm so glad that this forum and community is here as I go down this path. I've been really tired the last couple of years, and a sleep study was recommended. The results I got back were shocking to me, after doing a home study test (I still debate if the results are as bad as they seem, a...
