Re: Waking up REALLY early
I did not mean to infer that elderly require LESS sleep, but rather some develop inability to sleep the same length of time compared to earlier in life. From the web page you cited: "Aging affects people differently. While some older adults may have no significant disruptions in their sleep, others ...

Re: Philips Dreamwear Nasal Cushion-Manufacture Issues
It is very difficult to find the origin of the Dreamwear cushions on most online sites. The only company where I saw this info was Direct Home Medical. Calling the vendors does not really help since the customer reps seem not to have access to product specifications. For whatever reason, Philips has...

Re: Waking up REALLY early
I have been on a ResMed S10 for about 18 months. The machine is working great, all parameters are optimized, and my AHI is typically ~1. All along, I have been waking up between 4-5 am with mask on for a total of usually 6 hours. Sometimes I drowse back to sleep if I listen to relaxing music. I was ...

Philips Dreamwear Nasal Cushion-Manufacture Issues
I had been using Medium size nasal cushions (Respironics, Lot# 200413, made in China) provided my DME. I needed to replace the cushion, but In the meantime I received a replacement mask “kit” (Respironics, Made in Costa Rica) containing a frame and nasal cushion, so I removed the latter and used tha...

Re: Fitting problem - DreamWear nasal cradle
I find that the standard hose for the Dreamwear nasal allows for the best grip of the mask to the head. When I switched to a heated hose to stop "rainout" during the winter months, the added weight tended to pull too much. Wrapping the regular hose with a "Snuggie" worked better than the latter, but...

Re: Chronic dry mouth from CPAP therapy
The only occasion when I do not have dry mouth is when I used to mouthtape and use a nasal mask (I stopped doing this on the providers suggestion). If there is no dry mouth when you use tape, then it's caused by mouth breathing. You can get an idea of the severity of mouth breathing by monitoring y...

Re: CPAP wakes me up multiple times a night
Have you tried using a fixed pressure? Even the slight jump in pressure from 7 to 8 may be too arousing in some people. You can do your own self-titration of fixed pressure by sleeping for three nights at 7 and then three nights at 8. You may even want to try 9 if tolerable. Also, often during true ...

Re: Loud Mouth Breathing
I did a sleep study test and it showed no sleep apnea, AHIs of 4 per hour came under the limit. Although I am skeptical as to the accuracy. Why are you skeptical? Did they measure your oxygen levels as part of the sleep study? Mouth breathing can be apnea (i.e. air hunger) or it could be nasal cong...

Re: Keep on waking up every 2 hours, any solutions?
I usually wake up between 4-5 am every night. If I'm alert, I have an old iPhone and use to read news, listen to humorous videos or relaxing music. If all else fails, what works best is to listen to a speech or lecture, eventually lose attention and fall back to sleep. My favorite is 60-70s philosop...

For both charts shown, there was zero leak and no FL during time periods captured.

Re: Still tired despite low AHI. Looking for suggestions.
Can you provide some details on your sleeping environment? I live in a cold weather climate, and myself and bed partner prefer to sleep in the bedroom with a temp range of 60-65 deg F. Initially it is cold getting in bed so we place one or two light blankest over the quilt. As one's body temperature...

Unusual Flow Rates; No Leaks
OSCAR_11 Jan 2021 (TapedMouth).JPG The flow pattern shown sometimes occurs even when there are no leaks and no flow limitations (I had a Somnifix strip over my mouth for the entire night). I typically use a soft cervical collar to reduce mouth breathing and have also observed similar periodic flow ...
