Re: using a borrowed machine
My neighbor has sleep apnea but he does not have insurance therefore can not afford a sleep study. My CPAP machine is set at 11 pressure. Could it hurt my neighbor to use my machine at 11? My thought was, better to have something than nothing. What do you think? How much would a sleep study cost (w...

Re: Mask cleaning question
I would be inclined to think that the film that appears in the tank and hose may not be related to the recall and breakdown of the foam. The black speck you found possibly foam breakdown. Have you ever washed the tank? If not give it a wash with some mild dish detergent (Dawn is good is good if you ...

"The machine my mum is using is on this lift of recalled devices, but it doesn't belong to her it is on loan from a public hospital until she can get her own prescribed from a specialist (appointment with them later this month)." Where this unit is on loan from a public hospital, its likely been lo...

Not about wipes or cleaning, but many of the Philips DreamStation's had been recalled due to some foam used in machines breaking down and releasing particles of the foam into the air path which a user could possibly inhale. Were you aware of this recall? https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/respirat...

I've just decided that if I ever for some unknown reason can not tolerate CPAP any longer that Inspire will not be an alternative .

Re: ResMed AirSense10 and generator
When considering a generator, consider what you'll power with it. Some generators are intended to run power tools, appliances and similar. If the use is intended to power household electronic devices such as a CPAP, you may want look at ones that provide a 'pure sine wave' output which is safer to u...

Re: CPAP recommendation (DS1 alternative)
No I have not. I probably should take it out and run it just to exercise the blower motor and play with the settings a bit.GoodNightRestGuy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2024 2:25 pm
Thanks a lot. Have you had a chance to tweak your AS10? Now I am bit concerned, as my PR SystemOne could be more aggressive than DS1, thus I slept better with DS1.

Re: CPAP recommendation (DS1 alternative)
"what are other brands that have similar characteristics (that would produce the same "feel" / comfy level) as DS1?" I started with a DS1 and it was replaced with the DS2 with the recall. They have the same " "feel" / comfy level" . After I got the DS2 I bought a lightly used Resmed Air Sense 10 Au...

Re: Safety of Dream Station II
I've been using the DS2 since about Oct 2021 with no issues and I consider it 'safe' until its time to replace it. Follow the instructions in the manual. Users have reported overheating..... "Do not place the device directly onto carpet, fabric, or other flammable materials." Users have reported bur...

Re: Put it in the landfill??
In the US I don't believe you are allowed to put it in a land fill. You are required to give it to an electronics recycler, and they may charge you to take it. I know I have several dead microwave ovens and I think they want to charge me $10 each to take them off my hands. This is correct. The recy...

Re: Dreamstation 2 won'r turn on
While the auto on/off setting may not be user selectable, the default setting is 'Auto On' is 'On' and 'Auto Off' is 'Off' and this can be verified in OSCAR. I would be inclined to believe this is how most people would want it set. The default 'Auto On' enabled is good if one forgets to press the st...

Re: New Article: New concerns
Don't buy a new car, furniture, or carpets. They all emit/off-gas formaldehyde as well as other nasty cancer causing fumes. https://nypost.com/2021/02/22/new-car-smell-contains-high-levels-of-carcinogens-study/ It's easy to say a CPAP emits a gaseous chemical, but another to cite how many PPM (parts...

Re: Dreamstation 2 won'r turn on
Sounds like your Auto on feature has got turned off by someone. You should be able to go into the clinical settings menu and turn it back on. Do you know how to do that? But for now....what happens if you just push the on/off button to turn the machine on and off? Nope, auto on and off on the Dream...
