Nasal breathing to mouth breathing: collapse?

Hi Cpaptalkers, It's been a while since I posted here and unfortunately despite my AHI stats being excellent, I still feel incredibly sleep deprived. I have been using my self bought ASV as a BiPap after not really improving on ASVauto mode. I actually felt worse on ASVauto, as the respiratory rate,...

Re: Are these arousals? Help needed for PS settings

Thanks a million for your response Roby Sue. I'll give the current settings a go for the upcoming days. The lung doc should schedule in a titrationnight. Let's see if what that brings to light. Since I hardly have a AHI worth mentioning, a static pressure support with some room for the EPR the AutoS...

Re: Are these arousals? Help needed for PS settings

Hey you all, To I have bought the ASV, not because I have centrals, but because it is bi-level and the pressure support range can be adapted towards the narrowing of my upper airways in the deeper sleep stages. I still feel sleep deprived and looking at last night's settings, I still notice difficul...

Re: Are these arousals? Help needed for PS settings

I also want to ask: Have you been changing the settings on this machine? I can't pick up all the settings for night of Dec. 10 from the OSCAR screen shot. But the Oscar screen shot seems to indicate Min EPAP = 8.0, Min PS = 3.0, and Max PS = 3.2. And I can't really determine Max IPAP. The stuff fro...

Re: Are these arousals? Help needed for PS settings

https://imgur.com/a/n8sxvk1 I think given that UARS is on the table for discussion, you really need to let us see some zoomed in data. You might want to post your data at the freebie version of SleepHQ and provide us with a link to a typical night. That way we can zoom in on areas that are of inter...

Re: Are these arousals? Help needed for PS settings

Hi miss Emirita, Thank you for taking a look and replying. I had a look at the data for other nights and I do see a pattern of gasping, followed by shallow breathing or even a flagged hypopnea. During the day my nose is very stuffy and runny, which seems like my turbinates do swell up. This could ei...

Re: Are these arousals? Help needed for PS settings

I did have most events when sleeping on my back,.so trying to sleep on my side wouldn't hurt. However, if I look at the interval that this gasping is happening, is causing me to suspect that either the pressure is not high enough, or my natural breathing rhythm is syncing with the machine, causing t...

Re: Are these arousals? Help needed for PS settings

My body mostly wants to sleep on my back. I am quite aware of the positional element of breathing difficulties, but I haven't found a way to keep sleeping on my side. Have already tried a Sleep Position trainer, tennis/baseballs in my shirt. Sleeping with a full backpack did do the trick, but was qu...

Are these arousals? Help needed for PS settings

Hi all you fellow forum users out there, It's been a while since I was active on this forum, as I have been trying to make headways treating my UARS and I need a fresh pair of eyes to review what I believe is hampering the quality of my sleep. After losing a ton of weight a couple years ago I have a...

Re: SDB? Help needed with pressure settings

Thanks for all the feedback all! In all you've definetely helped me get a better perspective on what my flow graph is actually telling. I seem to have found a pressure setting that shows a very stable flow graph, you could almost hold a ruler on top of it! No need to tweak much further then and I'll...

Re: SDB? Help needed with pressure settings

You mentioned a recent sleep study; was it without a PAP machine? Was it in a sleep lab, or at home? Can you post a scan of the sleep study report? I added two documents where 1 shows that something keeps pulling me out of my N3 sleep and I suspect it is the flow events. In the second picture the t...

SDB? Help needed with pressure settings

Hi all, it’s been a while since I last posted on the forum and with my brand spanking new Aircurve ASV I’m very curious on your views on my flow charts. To briefly sum-up my background: 40 year old male, 170lbs, 6’3 tall with a childhood diagnosis for asthma. Here in the Netherlands, I have been tre...

Re: 4 years of CPAP usage with AHI <1 and not improving

Thanks for the feedback Pugsy! I'm having a closer look at my flow limitations and am a bit confused to wether these constitute RERA's. My hypothesis is that my current symptoms are mostly linked to the way that i breathe with the CPAP on, and not necessarily having obstructive apnea's. I dive into ...

Re: 4 years of CPAP usage with AHI <1 and not improving

Thank you for the feedback guys! Don't know if this is a handy way of interacting and replying to your input, but here you go: Do you take any medications of any kind (even OTC)? If so, what? I occassionally take some supplements in the hope of improvement. Mostly Omega 3, Magnesium and vitamins B12...

Re: Forum posts doing something weird

I did just create my first post and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Do new post get screened before they're visible on the forum, or did it actually disappear do to glitch?
