Re: OT: Heads up on my personal issues
I lurk and your posts are always so helpful. Sorry to hear about what you are going through... My Dad is 90, and 2023 has seen him decline physically (uses a walker now) and mentally (not like your Mom, but he loses his train of thought easily). Wishing you all the best through this difficult time.

Flow limitations while awake?
I searched and didn't find an answer to this but I am curious: Sometimes I will have my APAP on and I will notice the pressure slowly increasing as I watch TV or read as I am in bed. On OSCAR, it shows flow limitations. Some times the pressure will increase from 7.0 to 10.5. I assume this is because...

Re: Cervical Collar & Much Higher AHI
I was going for a twofer. About once every couple of weeks I awake with a stiff neck, as best as I can tell from my sidesleeping. And seeing the posts on collars helping sidesleepers, I thought "hey, if I can get my AHI even lower, great". I was not expecting the AHI numbers for the 2.5 hours though...

Re: Cervical Collar & Much Higher AHI
I am an idiot. Great question.
Sidesleeper now almost exclusively after training myself. (Initial study in 2016: Supine AHI, 26, Sides 1, Prone 4. Total AHI 6.1)
I know by the rare H/OA clusters if I spent any time on my back on a given night.

Cervical Collar & Much Higher AHI
Having an issue uploading an OSCAR pic so... 1 year stats: AHI .43 Obstructive .1 Hypop: .24 Central .1 Resmed 10, Pressure 7-13, EPR 3 Just to see if using a collar would improve my numbers, I slept with one for the first two and a half hours last night. During that time, I had 10 hypops. When I aw...

Re: Severe Nasal Congestion
So for the first 5 years of PAP therapy, like an idiot, I didn't use my humidifier. It took a few days to get used to, but it has made a real difference with congestion. If you sit/stand up do your sinuses/nasal passages clear quickly? I can't speak to whether the mask itself may be causing problems...

Re: How reliable and trustworthy is data from a CPAP machine?
Vent: While I understand a doctor's unease about patients having too much information that they may not understand, this is an example of The Guild protecting The Guild. OSCAR is amazing and has put some agency into the hands of the patient. Combine that with the wisdom here and you have an informed...

Re: Back sleeping, adjustable beds and cpap
I really don't know if it helps or hinders the use of the machine. I bought the bed because I was diagnosed with severe arthritis of the spine and shoulders. The shoulder pain prevents me from sleeping on my side for long periods of time. I figure anything that helps me relax at night is going to i...

Re: Back sleeping, adjustable beds and cpap
for the past several months, i've been trying to sleep on my stomach. it helps relieve my very minor aches in my lower back. and i never have any sort of dry mouth. it's given me some of the most prolonged periods of sleep i've ever had. while not the whole night, i can get around 4 to 5 hours on m...

Re: Started humidification and slight rise in AHI. Related?
Youve been on CPAP therapy about 5 years. Thats about the time line for a new machine? Are you on a new machine? Were there any changes to yiur settings other than hunidity? Di yiu have any before/after graphs? When you do a monthly OSCAR graph is the last month clearly well above the previous 11 m...

Thanks, CG. Love the avatar.ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 4:40 pmSome people turn the humidifier up to a setting that causes nasal congestion. This might cause an AHI increase. Otherwise, your case appears to be statistically insignificant.

Started humidification and slight rise in AHI. Related?
As always, thanks for all of the advice here. I have finally de-lurked. After 5 years, at the advice of my doctor, I began using a humidifier. My sinuses have thanked me in the past 10 days, but I have noticed a slight increase in my nightly AHI, from an average of around 1 for the last five years t...

... it possible to get an idea of how long the hypopneas last? You can get an idea but cannot reconstruct exactly what the ResMed machine thinks are the beginning and ending times. Zoom into the Flow Graph around the event so that you can see the details of the airflow clearly. Now, hold down the s...

Re: Number in parenthesis in Oscar
Some funny posts here in the zombie post... Pugsy, as an Airsense 10 user the lack of hypopnea timing always irked me. In looking at the flow rates, is it possible to get an idea of how long the hypopneas last? That's is what I try to do when I am curious, although I am by no means anything other th...
