Good to be a woman than a man, OSA risk wise.
Could this explain why female lives longer than male, among other things

Re: Inexplicable fragmented sleep
What happened August 2018? Any big weight increase around that time?
It looks like pressure should be higher, but you could not tolerate it. I would say increase it 0.5 at a time to higher pressures.

NP. The TRD pulls the tongue out more effectively than MAD. They also put pressure on the teeth, but to a smaller extent.
There used to be lots of sellers on Amazon. Try to find the largest size possible.

A large tongue can be difficult to treat...normal CPAP pressure is not enough to cut it (at least for me), while high pressure causes its own issues: leaking air, etc. Try sleeping more in the prone position, from the report (also based on human anatomy), the prone sleep will be so much better. Tong...

Sounds like you need a nasal surgery. Don't use Afrin for long, the rebound congestion is no joke...

Re: Eppiglotic collapse
epiglottis come in different shapes, some are more like Omega shape, some are relatively flat, while the rest might be somewhere in between. A flat epiglottis is like a door close in one direction, i.e., could be pushed down by airflow and the airway becomes much narrower very quickly. CPAP could be...

It will calm the brain down and help it rest, but not to the extent of making brain not responding to apnea or low spO2.

REM sleep period get deeper and longer into the second leg of the sleep. Check whether the inhale/exhale flow has lots of variation, which is a characteristic of REM sleep stage.

Re: Please help! 4+ years fragmented sleep and insomnia – Extremely Desperate
Hey, thanks for the responses. I always had severe ADHD and DSPD my whole life, but I also used to be able to sleep 8+ hours uninterrupted until all of a sudden like a switch had been flipped after the OSA has emerged in full and I'm now lucky to get 5 hours at a time. Yeah, I think ADHD brains inh...

Re: Please help! 4+ years fragmented sleep and insomnia – Extremely Desperate
I've been working with the good folks over at apneaboard and it seems like while sleep hygiene is a factor, my awakenings are mostly to do with sleep-disordered breathing. I'm working on both at the same time. We've found that EPR to 3 on the S9 Autoset was a game changer, and together with narrowi...

Re: Mild Apnea with multiple risk factors
Hi All, I had my sleep study completed and got the results about two weeks ago. The initial call reported that i had some apnea and would get full details at the doc appt. The good news was that I was diagnosed with only mild apnea with a AHI of 5.1. 24 events total. Lowest O2 was 92. Felt pretty g...

Re: Need help, suspect UARS. Want to try APAP - need advice and guidance.
Well at this stage, I've decided to return and get a refund on the CPAP, and I'm going to pay to see the ENT privately (hopefully next week) and see if he can find anything. As it this stage, it's evident that I have breathing issues impacting my sleep, but equally, I don't know yet that CPAP is th...

Re: Need help, suspect UARS. Want to try APAP - need advice and guidance.
Is my logic right here: That UARS similar to OSA is often a collapse of the airway, and obviously CPAP keeps pressure up to prevent the airway collapsing.. Having impaired nasal airflow (congestion, polyps, deviated septum etc) causes reduced airflow and air pressure, therefor ALLOWING the airway t...

Re: Having Braces As a Kid / Jaw Structure?
Hi everyone! Random question. I had orthodontic work/braces as a child. Shortly after that, I noticed I had sleep issues. Do you think it's possible that the orthodontic procedure might cause sleep apnea? Important consideration. You would think not, except that there IS an oral appliance that trea...

Re: Negative for apnea
Good afternoon everyone, Finally got the results of my sleep study. It came back negative for sleep apnea but 0% for deep sleep and REM sleep. The doctor is requesting an MSLT to test for other things outside of apnea (like narcolepsy). Will the MSLT retest for apnea? As some of you know, I had a r...
