Re: Eating the Low-Carb Way: your place to share

Oh! Oh! Oh! TSSleepy, we can be buddies in this journey -- I turned 42 on December 28th and I was diagnosed with severe OSA in January 2009. Plus I'm a total SF geek...

Re: Eating the Low-Carb Way: your place to share

TSSleepy - thank you SO much for sharing your info! I have really been wondering about what kind of weight loss I might expect. I think I too am going to keep some kind of fitness/health/fat loss journal. 35 lbs in 48 days is VERY encouraging!!! I'm going to check out your youtube video now.

Re: Eating the Low-Carb Way: your place to share

I ate two eggs and three strips of bacon for breakfast. I'm not hungry. Normally I have either eaten part of my lunch by this time, or not eaten and just been upset about how long I "have to" wait until lunchtime to eat. I am so unused to not being hungry. (What that means is I am totally used to be...

Re: Eating the Low-Carb Way: your place to share

Right, BS...that's what I think I need to do too - aim at 50 and check the numbers for a few weeks. I should have said I don't plan on counting anything long-term. I'm on...what? Day 2 or 3 - and I feel fantastic. However, I did eat a date square this morning. But! refused the ice cream my daughter ...

Re: Eating the Low-Carb Way: your place to share

Thanks to both of you. It was more curiosity for me, like "is this something I have to pay attention to?" I'm not going to count anything. New question: DS (and other low-carbers) - do you ever "fall off the wagon?" Or even deliberately eat something not in your normal eating plan? BTW, I switched m...

Re: Eating the Low-Carb Way: your place to share

Well, if it is still possible to talk about low-carb eating on this thread, I have a question. When people are talking about the different KINDS of low-carb eating - like timbalion, with his description of ultra-low-carb and low-carb - how do you measure the total carbs in a diet? Is it grams of car...

Re: Eating the Low-Carb Way: your place to share

You know, for a while I made all my cats' food - grinding up meat and bones, adding chicken hearts and livers, etc. I realize NOW that I stopped doing it because of my OSA - at the time it just seemed like another chore that wasn't necessary. Hmmmm. Your post has me thinking about that again, timbal...

Re: Eating the Low-Carb Way: your place to share

Carbonman, thanks. I said at the very beginning of the other thread I started on this topic that this is an emotional area of life for me. I know that people look at me and assume I am sedentary with poor eating habits, hence I get suggestions like "try to introduce a bit of exercise into your sched...

Re: Canada's Health Care System Far From Perfect

I don't think any Canadian would seriously argue that the Canadian system is "perfect." I went to the U.S. for a diagnostic procedure in December, because I wasn't willing to wait for the public system here to catch up to my request.

Re: Eating the Low-Carb Way: your place to share

I am back from the gym now. I am increasing the amount of weight I work with each week. Carbonman, I hope you know I respect your opinion and wisdom very much. But I wonder if you are implying that exercise alone is sufficient to help "people in general" (not just you) lose weight. Your evidence is ...

Re: Eating the Low-Carb Way: your place to share

Carbonman, I hear you! My issue is NOT lack of physical activity. It's excess weight. Have you ever been overweight and lost weight? I can MAINTAIN my weight just like you can. I'm not gaining weight, and have not gained weight since starting CPAP a year ago. However, I would like to lose excess bod...

Eating the Low-Carb Way: your place to share

New thread! I thought (especially in light of SAG's most recent post on the "old" thread) that it was time for a place specifically to ask questions, share stories and get and give advice on eating low-carb. (Or is there a better name for this than "low-carb"?) I prepared a baked chilis dish from "L...

Re: Requesting BASIC diet/weightloss advice and support

I am NOT hungry. New question: some of the breakfast recipes in the low-carb cookbook look so yummy but I don't want to only eat them at breakfast. Example: a baked ancho chilis dish with lots of queso fresco (which I don't have, but I have some goat's cheese at home) and parmesan. How could I "conv...
