Re: Infections, Bacterias, Bugs that Haunt the CPAP hose

A review of the OP previous posts reveals that he was told to use baby shampoo to clean the equipment, which I do not believe to be appropriate advice. One should use "dish detergent" because it rinses away completely. From the ResMed instructions on cleaning masks etc. "We recommend plain Ivory® l...

Re: Infections, Bacterias, Bugs that Haunt the CPAP hose

I've been using my climate line hose for almost 8 months now.... I washed it when I first received it to get dust, etc out.... I haven't cleaned it since. I may be wrong, but fungi might be able to grow if you don't use distilled water and don't dump the tap water out every day... Fungi don't reall...

Re: Fighting Anxiety

Do you have data to know if 6cm is controlling your SDB? 6cm is awfully low... Actually yes -- My AHI for the 9 mights has been 1. 3.47 2. 3.65 3. 2.61 4. 1.55 5. 2.20 6. 0.78 (wooo-hooo) 7. 1.18 8. 2.11 9. 1.15 All quite reasonable I think. I agree 6cm is quite low. I was pleased about that at fir...

Re: Fighting Anxiety

Being a Sci-Fi fan I programed my self to think of my mask as a part of a space suit, or a special breathing mask for walking on Mars, or as a scuba gear and I am diving underwater... LOL! That's wonderful! Great ideas-- You make going to sleep an adventure! I may try a version of that Thanks!

Re: Fighting Anxiety

When you say you feel anxious, do you feel like you have trouble breathing? (I love your avatar!) Yes, let me see if I can describe it... I feel chest tightness and an inner trembling in my chest, bad butterflies in my stomach and all-over tension. If I allowed myself to breathe the way my body wan...

Re: Fighting Anxiety

I don't have anxiety about using CPAP. But in the past I did suffer from Agoraphobia, which expressed itself also in avoiding going thru tunnels. After reading material on how to cure it I did desensitize myself completely, and even forced myself to seek tunnels and go thru them. Sort of proving to...

Thanks Rich. My doctor order is for straight CPAP at 6cm. I doubt he'll go higher because of this. If it gets worse, I will ask though!

Re: Fighting Anxiety

Does anyone here have ongoing anxiety or does it always go away? Also, what helps you if you suffer from this anxiety? Psychiatrists, these days, prescribe Xanax to treat anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and anxiety caused by depression. You need top specify which you're talking about. I thought...

Re: Fighting Anxiety

Kate, you're not using Ramp, are you? No Dori, I shut it off after the 2nd night. (Or maybe the first-- not sure!) They set it to 20 minutes, but I turned it down to 5 and then off. I also tried turning off the EPR. They had set it to 2, I turned it down to 1 and then off the other night, but it ma...

Re: Fighting Anxiety

Kate thank you for all the responses! When it comes time to get CPAP for me if that's the route we go I know I have a sympathetic ear if it gives me anxiety like you ♥ [Singing.... ] I only have ears for you... Or something like that! Thanks to you! And I DO hope I can return the favor one day I lo...

Re: Fighting Anxiety

Thank you for your very well thought out reply. It is a lot like grief (I lost my daughter and suffer PTSD and put a lot of the same thoughts and processes on all). I've been studying Buddhist traditions a lot and one thing they focus on is allowing the thoughts to come but not act on them. - I'm s...

Re: Fighting Anxiety

I suffer from ongoing anxiety but not about CPAP but there is a chance that when the time comes it might crop up. Anxiety can come and go. How are things during the day? Maybe there is something stressful in your life that needs dealing with and it's causing bedtime cpap anxiety? I know if I don't ...

Fighting Anxiety

Outside of a short period of anxiety attacks over 25 years ago, I have generally NOT been an anxious person throughout my life. I finished my 9th night on CPAP last night and I must say that, although I am thrilled with my results so far, I am having a little anxiety problem! For the first ...maybe ...
