Re: Is it safe to assume,,,?
No, you can't make that assumption; it could go either way. In any case, if you still need Cpap, 7cm is already a pretty low pressure, and I'm not sure you'd want to go any lower. At 7cm, the pressure is still sufficient to wash CO2 out of the exhaust port; much lower and, depending on the mask, it ...

Re: Help please with card reader for Encore Pro
I have a computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and successfully use the Infineer Mako DT-3500 card reader with Encore Pro 2.4.12.2. I don't remember if I had to install drivers from an included CD-ROM or if Windows installed them automatically, but I didn't have any trouble installing the ...

Re: information on F/P 604
I'm not familiar with your particular machine; but, it should not spontaneously change its pressure setting. As for the hours-per-night, perhaps the bathroom break is causing it to register each night as two and giving the average of those? The software should be smart enough not to do that, but all...

Re: Do I need a doctor to use a cpap
This thread certainly has aroused some opinions... This description from a posting above is a description of an OSA sufferer: "He snores like crazy, stops breathing frequently during the night and an overnight pulse ox test (with my recording monitor) showed oxygen levels into the mid to upper 80's....

Re: New here-Replacing 10 yr old machine-question plz
Sounds like you just need a new humidifier and/or humidifier tank. You can buy those cheap at Secondwindcpap.com, and should not need a prescription. Talk to them about your needs--they can advise. You have a right to your medical file, and should demand a complete copy. It should include your origi...

Re: Taping
We have nothing to fear but fear itself. Some risk is unavoidable. The valiant die but once; cowards die a thousand times. . . He who fights and runs away lives to fight another day... In our case, I believe we valiant tapers should postpone our deaths as long as possible by taking what sensible pr...

Re: Taping
C'mon, now, obviously this is the proper forum for discussing Cpap-related dangers, including dangers that apply to the even smaller "taper" subset. As a "taper," I appreciate Archangel's concern and willingness to provide useful information (on other topics, too, I might add). Unlike the dangers of...

Re: Do I need a doctor to use a cpap
While there are certainly small risks associated with Cpap use, even with a doctor, most of those risks are there. Really, if you run into trouble, it's not going to be while you have the doctor around--unless you're a Michael Jackson-type celebrity, that is, and look what happened to him... What is...

Re: Products in CPAP Store that you would like too see.
What about an inline anti-asphyxia valve for tapers, one that would go between the hose and the mask. This would be a simple, cheap safety valve, that pops open if the power and pressure go off.

Re: Do I need a doctor to use a cpap
And, if we didn't mentione it, your Fisher & Paykel Sleep style 200 will probably work just fine for you. Most sleep apnea sufferers do not need anything more than a basic Cpap. Do a search, and you'll find that others here have used that machine successfully, and have information on how to adjust t...

I've also had good experiences with Cpap.com. You can probably find the Resmed masks you want from venders on Ebay (in parts) or on Craigslist (search http://www.allofcraigs.com).

Re: Is it time to give up on CPAP?
It appears that you have a fully data capable machine. Can you download and show us the data? It may provide a clue as to what is waking you up. I can tell you that at first, I had a terrible time getting Cpap to work, because of sinus problems, mouth recirculation and other problems. (It sounds lik...

Re: Sleep doc recommends stopping cpap. Use for 10-days
I don't understand your problem. Are you saying the doctor wants you to stay off of the Cpap and try Ambien beause you have insomnia? Or, are you asking if the Provent device might work in place of the Cpap?

Re: Taping
We're all on the same side here, or so I hope. The issue with both FFMs and Taping is certain situations causing rebreathing and the consequent buildup of CO2, or hypercapnia. While I believe the danger of hypercapnia leading to death for reasonably healthy individuals is probably very small, it obv...

Check out http://www.talkaboutsleep.com/message-boards/viewtopic.php?t=3724&view=next for a troubling account of an experiement turning off power to a FFM user--he did not wake up and turned blue, even with the safety valve--and an abstract of a report on the death of a FFM user, apparently because ...
