Re: Another Battery Option

Many of the reviewers were saying that it worked at first, but then let them down. My perception was those people were following the billbolton method and not keeping the battery on charge as you were saying in your post. One thing to consider when choosing a jump start battery is whether it seems ...

Re: Another Battery Option

Would you think the one I have been using in this fashion since June meets or exceeds that requirement? I tend to think that "most" have under powered chargers which allow it to stay plugged in "until needed". After all, how can you tell when the power will go out? I can't which is why I keep my pl...

Re: Another Battery Option

If you use one of these jump start batteries that has an AC outlet, can you just plug the regular AC cord into that or is it still preferable to get the DC inverter and plug into that? (using Resmed S9) The big concern is if the AC power is "Modified Sine Wave" or MSW. Most AC jumper systems like t...

Re: Help! Again.....

Have you tried other masks? (I had to go through a lot, before I found ones that worked for me.) How often do you change the mask? If you use a mask too long, leaks get worse, often a lot worse. You must get leaks under control for Cpap therapy to work. With a properly adjusted nasal pillows mask, y...

Re: APAP Results - Help from BPAP / ASV Users?

If you do a "for sale" search here, you'll find a member selling a used ASV. You probably don't need the ASV function, but should be able to use the machine in straight BiPap mode... Pressure discomfort causing pain is not good. You need to get those ears checked out. You probably need a BiPap, even...

Re: Another Battery Option

One thing to consider when choosing a jump start battery is whether it seems to have charging circuitry such that it will go into a float/maintenance mode after the battery is charged. This has a lot to do with how much life you are going to get out of the battery, if you leave it plugged in to the...

Re: central sleep apnea concern.

Tsubs, first, congratulations! Even without fine tuning, your Cpap therapy is already successful enough to mean you have taken a huge step in the right direction, in terms of your health. I don't think you need to go in for another lab sessions just yet; but, I would try to find out more about those...

Re: Good Mask for facial hair?

Nasal pillows masks such as the Swift II work well with facial hair. I couldn't get a FFM to seal even without the facial hair that I now have, and am certain that facial hair would just make it worse. You might have to choose between your beard and a FFM... One solution for mouth leaks (which I use...

Re: Kill-A-Watt for DC?

Blowing 9-12cm, my Legacy ("tank") Respironics BiPap AutoSV draws about 1.7 amps (12v) through the Respironics DC-DC converter (12v to 24v). Don't worry too much about accuracy when it comes to measuring the current draw of your Cpap. The real variable will probably be the battery. Battery AH rating...

Do a search on "for sale" on this site, as members sell machines from time to time. Here's one I just noticed:

Re: Daylight Savings time and the S9

Speaking of changing time, my legacy Respironics AutoSV doesn't let you do that. It has an internal clock set to GMT at the factory, and that's that. Unfortunately, the clock is now hours off. I correct for it somewhat by setting the wrong time zone in the Encore Pro software. I like many things abo...

Re: How frequent are pressure pulses supposed to be

Interesting. You might be a candidate for a BiPap. Are you using Flex? If it were me, I would experiment with Flex before changing pressure. While you would think Flex would always help, in fact, for a lot of people, turning it off improves the numbers--there's a study someplace that tries to explai...

Re: Retraining Throat Muscles to Control Sleep Apnea

Retraining throat muscles won't do you any harm, so long as you continue with the Cpap, and if you go the digeridoo route, you will learn a new instrument in the process. So, why not? Let us know if it seems to help...
