Re: Inquiring Mind Wants to Know 1 (ontopic semirant)

Hubby and I made custom latex Halloween masks 40 years ago.
--he's threatening to get out the craft supplies.
It was a real mess--my brother-in-law lost a fair amount of moustache hair.
This could be fun/funny. I'll let you all know how it turns out.
Picture old guy nose hairs stuck in plaster.

Re: My camping experience and cpap

Go to your local fabric store and buy a yard or so of the finest mesh fabric you can find--like bridal veil tulle or silk screen fabric. Then just fold or gather it around your equipment, pinning or rubber-banding all the openings. This should exclude the creepy-crawlies. Think of those goofy little...

local cpap support groups

I just found (and attended) my first local support group meeting.
I frankly hoped for more.
The sponsors are either docs or DME's.
'Nuff said. . .
Still, I may be back in 2 months, keeping an open mind.
I still could learn something during the mingle, and they had good snacks.

Re: long time nasal pillow mask users

I had orthodontics for two years as a kid. I have retired my mirage micro after 3 months, as the bridge of my nose is not bulky enough to keep wind out of my eyes. The last time I wore it, I found myself pushing it downward to where my nose is big enough to keep my eyes safe; which put the bottom ed...

Re: Humidifier Water Poll

We have exceptionally hard water; so distilled water was a no-brainer! We had to toss 2 Bunn coffee-makers, a water heater, and all of our garden sprinklers because of incredible lime build-up. I don't want my tank to look like downtown Thermopolis, WY.

Re: S9 goes straight into cool down mode?

You didn't mention anything about timing. I've noticed my S9 Elite switching from warm-up to cool-down if I don't start the ramp within a certain time period-not sure-maybe 10-15mins. after beginning warm-up. I just hold down on the right-hand start button and it goes back to warm-up. Now if it's sh...

Re: Mouth Taping - adhesive irritation

I have made my own little custom template out of a fast food lid to cut a boomerang shape (my size yap) out of 1-1/2" blue 3M painters tape. I then stick the tape shape to my palm and peel it off until the desired amount of tack is left. (trial and error) So far, it just sticks well enough to work, ...

Re: Machine replacement: Strike one!

It just breaks my heart when I talk to someone and they confess that their CPAP machine has lain idle for months, or even years. I want to give them the information and motivation to take another run at it. And it enrages me that so many of these poor souls were taken advantage of and then abandoned.

Re: Is It Me Or Were My Expectations Just Too High?

When I first started 'kissing the hose', I noticed feeling less alert on arising. I have learned that what I was accustomed to was loads of adrenaline built up over the night while I literally suffocated in my sleep. This adrenalin generally ran out about 1:00 PM every day, at which time I could 'zo...

Re: Fell Asleep Without CPAP & Saw A Huge Difference

For the last three months, I have had my machine on all night, every night. The few times I dozed off without it, even for just a few minutes, I woke up feeling totally like crap; so basically, my equipment is 'anti-crap CPAP' tee, hee. Resistance was futile--I have been assimilated.

Loratadine is the generic for Claritin. It can cost half as much or less, and works exactly the same, I've been using it for years.

Re: Hotels and motels

I went to a professional conference less than a week after I got my machine. I left all my stuff out, hose hanging on towel bar, mask on machine wrapped in a clean hand towel to absorb moisture. No problems, except I had to move the bed out to access the only outlet behind the headboard. I'm glad I ...

Re: Provent Nasal Apnea treatment

No clinical data, no specs, equals voodoo, doo doo, or something similar. Media coverage being substituted for good science. Same tactic used by a couple of heavily advertised hearing aid companies that are about 20 years behind the ones people actually wear. Consumers, like sheep being led to--aww,...

Re: Losing awareness

Tomorrow is my 3-month anniversary with the hose. It's been full of surprises, but as for this awareness, can it possibly be that I am slightly more alert and observant now that some of that fog has lifted? I can feel myself sinking into the zen-like rhythm of my breathing with the answering sounds ...
