Re: What should I share from Sleepyhead?

I finally did it. I ordered a cheap tongue restraining device, suctioned it to my tongue, and crammed the bulb under a full face mask. I wore a foam cervical collar and a weighted backpack and set my pressure to 16-20. I got this bitch down to 0.3 events per hour. My lips are numb, my tongue is on f...

Re: What should I share from Sleepyhead?

PR... you are pretty much one of the experts here. Do you have any suggestions for Dank? There's not much more a person can do with a cpap at 20cm constant pressure. If dank thinks that any lower pressure gives worse sleep, then the only thing that could be done (aside from finding out that lower p...

Re: What should I share from Sleepyhead?

Last night I had an AHI of 2.49 with a pressure of 17-20. The majority of them were centrals. So I suppose I'll lower the pressure incrementally until they mostly disappear. I usually strap on a weighted backpack to keep me on my side, which tends to reduce the obstructives. Without the backpack I h...

Looking at my flow rate, I frequently have these episodes of what appear to be disordered breathing that Sleepyhead ignores. Should I worry about something that looks like this?

Re: What should I share from Sleepyhead?

I'm attempting to reduce a variable, usually high nightly AHI of 1.6-5.9. Why do you feel this AHI range is high? Most people have variable AHI but anything under 5.0 is considered treated. What's your average? I have occasional bad and exceptionally good nights, I'd say my AHI range was 0.5-5.5 bu...

Re: What should I share from Sleepyhead?

Why is your minimum pressure set at 20? I wasn't feeling relief at lower pressures, a sleep study showed a minimum pressure of 11cm to be semi-effective in controlling the apneas. I felt no relief at this pressure and my AHI was relatively high, I also suspected I had UARS that would only respond t...

What should I share from Sleepyhead?

I'm attempting to reduce a variable, usually high nightly AHI of 1.6-5.9. I just downloaded Sleepyhead and imported my CPAP's data. I'm looking at a lot of information right now and want to know what would be useful for me to share here. Is there a way for me to share the Sleepyhead files themselves...

Re: Is it as bad as it seems?

A SD usb card reader costs $10 or less, Jim I agree that would be a good place to start. This may simply be a case of your sleep apnea not being optimized. You appear desperate for answers. Getting a card reader and downloading Sleepyhead would be a start. If you have sleep apnea, even mild sleep a...

Re: Is it as bad as it seems?

A few more questions then. Have you had recent blood work, more to rule out stuff? Any chance you've seen a Cardiologist, Neurologist, Ent? I'm learning through my granddaughter that allergies (in her case mainly food), play a big part in how we feel every day and if we sleep well at night. Do you ...

Re: Is it as bad as it seems?

I could do things with words that few adults can, First of all, you are more articulate than people 3 times your age. Things started going wrong at the end of my sophomore year. I haven't read all of your posts. Were you already diagnosed with sleep apnea at this point? Did you have a sleep study? ...

Is it as bad as it seems?

I apologize in advance to the frequent users who have responded to my barrage of anxious questions, I hope you'll bear with me for one more post. I'm 18 years old and soon to be graduating high school, and sleep apnea has ruined my life. I want to know if there is any hope for me to ever function at...

Your apnea of 5-15 is (I have to presume) TREATED apnea, not your tested result #, so unless I'm wrong, don't expect lots of yesses from here... 5 is the med. arbitrary cut-off # for 'good enough', but most here like to be definitely under 3.
My original untreated AHI was 7.5.

A few quick questions (help downloading sleepyhead)

Will central apneas caused by a higher pressure eventually disappear as the body adjusts to sleeping at that pressure? And does mild obstructive sleep apnea (AHI 5-15) require treatment at all? Studies suggest that low AHIs don't reduce quality of life and aren't meaningfully addressed with CPAP tre...

Re: So what now?

After a long and frustrating four months on CPAP with no relief from my mild (7.5 AHI) OSA, I've set my minimum pressure to the highest 20cm. I don't have any issues with the pressure and sleep through the night without any discomfort. I don't have aerophagia, I don't remove my mask, I fall asleep ...
