Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

Thank you Chicago Granny! I had planned on calling to set my first appointment next week and hope to accomplish both getting a copy of my sleep study as well as finding out the doctor's name. As for developing a good process - I'm trying really hard - first two nights were easy, night 3 a disaster s...

Sleep but no rest

Hello everyone! So I've been on my Cpap for four nights now - the nasal pillows are working well and for the first time in weeks I have had no continuous chest pain - that is a blessing - I had just assumed it was stress. My energy is not as great as it was before Cpap but after reading I understand...

Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

Thanks Nicholas - something to keep in mind. Guess I have lots more to learn on possible changes to the body, so I'll just have to worry about things as they come up.

Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

Thank you Booksfan - will keep all of that in my file to remember. Right now I am staying with what I have - actually I was so tired last night, probably only took 10 minutes to fall asleep. I do remember adjusting a couple times through the night but nothing to prevent my sleep - as evidenced with ...

Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

You can nix that last question, lol! I went through and read some very interesting posts and realize that for everyone the answer is different. So I know what I need to do - I'll stick with my normal routine, even if I have to push myself a little but have to be more religious with vitamins and exer...

Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

Thank you Jas - my fan is a necessary tool for sure, lol! So I am curious, about how long does it take for everything to level out and energy levels go back up. Last night was my second night, did well - on machine 6 1/2 hours without any problems, but when I get up, I am sluggish. Or is it because ...

Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

Thanks Pugsy - may do that in a bit. Could be just me getting used to it or could be that even though I used the machine I had my fan running, for some reason a fan has always helped me sleep.

Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

Thanks Rob - I'll keep it in mind. I really didn't the nasal pillow - the biggest irritation was the exhaling air hole. Wow, that stream of air is more obnoxious than the in-going air. As for the prong, I just need to get used to anything on my face, so one day at a time.

Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

Thanks Julie! Verdict still out on the telling - he is in the worry stage and won't leave me alone, lol! I just need to reassure him while I reassure myself, but it feels good to know he's not leaving. I got the easy mask - the nose pillows. Yes I am using the humidifier, it is set on 3. The water w...

Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

Thank you guys! So I survived the first night. Took me over an hour to fall asleep compared to my normal two minutes but I stuck with it. Managed to keep it on most of the night until a little before 3 (5.12 hours), at which point I did remove it so I could catch the last hour of sleep without havin...

Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

Thank you both Nicholas and Rob!

Machine is picked up and when I get the nerve, I'll head to bed (soon probably). The therapist answered quite a bit for me which helped. So have a great night!

Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

Thanks Rob! I plan to make it work, along with diet and exercise to maybe one day cure my case anyway. I find it amazing that everyone discusses how much better they and I will feel - I never felt bad. Sure I was tired, I was working full time, caretaker and trying to start my own business - who wou...

Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

Thank you both Nicholas and Pugsby - especially on the clarification. I really did have a misconception on that, probably a few other things as well. I am hoping that when I go today I will have an opportunity to ask a couple questions, and maybe even know what my test results were even though it's ...

Re: New Beginnings are terrifying!

I am learning all about these things in some intensive research NIcholasJ and thank you for the input. At least I'm beginning to understand the severity of it - although for myself, concerned about the number of hours of sleep required versus what I can actually do. On a daily basis, I schedule 6 ho...
